This is a great toy shop. The bargain baskets and tables are always worth scouring for heavily reduced items. They will often have major brands at hugely discounted prices. Great for kids party presents. They also have a great hobby section. I recently asked for advice on slot car tracks and was given a very comprehensive run down on the pros and cons of the different systems. It was probably more info than I ever really wanted to know on the topic, but my son was pretty happy with the one I bought him, so well worth the time to listen.
I have a mixed feeling toward this IGA. The bottle shop part of it has some excellent specials and a really good range, The main staff also seem to really know their stuff and give excellent recommendations. I can go in and say I want a bottle of x and want to pay between 10 and 15 dollars and they will quickly suggest a bottle which is excellent value and quality. The fresh produce however is often not so fresh and the service can vary greatly. The do have a good gluten free section which I have noticed but never needed to use. I certainly wouldn't do a weekly shop there, but they are handy for a drop in if you are in that strip.
We love KoKo Black. The old world environment makes it a lovely place for a relaxing afternoon tea. The tasting plates are a great way to go to sample some of their amazing sweets. They also offer a kids tasting plate, which changes seasonally, but often includes the amazing chocolate icecream and a chocolate pop shaped like a teddy bear. The coffee is good and strong and the service is always of a high standard including making sure that your water glass is topped up. Always pretty good with the kids too, which makes it a pleasant stop and indulgence.
Great range, great bargains. They currently have a free postage offer for orders over $75. The kids card packs are excellent value. Much better than the standard cheap shop cards, and work out to be less than $1 per card. They are really quick to process and post too. I have ordered from them many times and they have always been great. Can also be used as a fundraiser for schools, clubs etc.
We have been going to rare bears for about 6 years, and it is always clean and well maintained. The kids have a ball, although I am not like many other adults who say that they find it a relaxing way of catching up with a friend over a coffee. This place is mayhem, it is pretty much always busy and sooo noisy. The temperature control is also not great, it is either really hot and the kids are sweating from running round like mad things, or quite chilly. It is quite hard to get a convenient park too, so keep that in mind if you are trying to get there for a party, you will need to allow extra time. The coffee and food are good, the parties always well run and it is one of the best of it's type, (can you tell I'm over play centres?)
This is a a great spot to go when you can't get to your normal doctor. They are open in the evenings and bulk bill. The main reason it is not our main dr is that you will not see the same dr regularly. The have lots of staff to cover the long hours that they operate. Undercover parking, large waiting room.
The food here is great. The chicken really is better than any other take away chicken. Great salads, and of course the kids think the chips are the best bit. Good range of deserts including great chocolate moose. Can be a bit hectic at peak times, so be prepared for a wait.
Ward Sagar is a quality book store specialising in children's books. The shop is well laid out and has an amazing depth of stock. If you are looking for a special gift they have a good range of hard cover editions of the classics, which can be hard to find elsewhere. They have great knowledge of children's books, although you will probably have to ask if you want help as they are usually pretty busy doing things, so I have rarely been approached. They always have some bargain baskets out the front and there are often good items at a good price in there. I would highly recommend a visit to see the amazing range of stock and to pick their brains
The food here is simple and generous. I had a tortellini take away from here last night and it was great. The serving size was enormous and only $12 pickup. If you get things delivered from here, you can also ask them to include things from the fish and chip shop next door. Great if the family are having trouble agreeing what to eat.
The food here is good. The chips are always great, as though the oil is kept fresh and clean. The burgers are just a straight up, good old fashioned burger. Potato cakes are good. The main guy is friendly and chatty. if you order pizza or pasta from the place next door, you can also piggy back an order from here. Handy if the family is divided on what to eat that night.
