Who we are
A small crew that finishes what it quotes
Bathrooms, decks and full renovations, most of them within twenty minutes of Newstead. Tom Hartwell runs every site himself and the crew has not changed in six years, which is why the quote you sign is the job you get.
Every job runs off a written scope. Anything we find behind a wall is priced and approved before anyone touches it, so the number on the contract is the number on the invoice.

Before you call
The questions every renovation starts with
- Do you handle the council approvals?
- Yes. Anything that needs a building approval or a plumbing compliance certificate, we lodge and manage. You sign where we point.
- What happens if we find something unexpected behind a wall?
- We stop, photograph it, and price the fix before touching it. You decide. It never turns up as a surprise on the invoice.
- Do you do small jobs, or only full renovations?
- Both. A single bathroom is a job we are happy to do well. We just do not squeeze it in between bigger ones.
- Can we live in the house during a renovation?
- Usually, yes. We seal off the work area, keep one bathroom running where we can, and tell you a week ahead of anything noisy.
- How far ahead are you booked?
- Typically six to ten weeks for a start date. We would rather tell you the real number than promise a slot we cannot hold.
- Are you insured?
- Yes — public liability and QBCC home warranty insurance on every job over the threshold. Certificates on request.

Bathroom and ensuite done together, six weeks, finished on the Friday they said. The written scope was the thing: two things came up (rotten joist, old wiring) and both were priced and approved before anyone touched them. No surprise on the final invoice.
Tom ran the whole deck build himself, same three blokes every day, and the site was swept every afternoon. Our neighbour asked for the number before it was finished.
Full kitchen and living reno on a 1920s Queenslander. Hartwell were the only quote that walked the house first and the only one that came in on the number. Would use again.
