As we head into cold and flu season, its important to recognise the potential risk of developing pneumonia, and where possible, prevent it. 🤕

RBWH respiratory physician Dr Dona said that pneumonia is an infection of the lungs from a variety of organisms including viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Symptoms can range from mild to severe and are often similar to those of a cold or flu, but last longer.

This is a timely reminder to get your flu shot this year, but if you already have a cold, it is best to rest, take regular paracetamol, keep hydrated, stay away from people who are sick and wear a mask if you can, Dr Dona said.

If symptoms start to progress and you start to experience shortness of breath, chest pain, persistent fever and cough, and nausea, then I recommend being assessed by you GP as soon as possible.

VAIDS. ....vaccine acquired immune deficiency syndrome...

I’ve battled with depression, BPD, anxiety, panic attack, flashback, trauma, Devic disease , ADHD, and all meds seem to have side effects when I take them. I will advice you try them, cause it worked for me but it was with the aid and advice of Great Doctor Ebhodaghe a naturopathy..he gave me some herbal medicines which I used along with a diet routine he recommended and I got Cured of discoid lupus.. I also had hyperthyroidism and fibromyalgia along with Lupus and he help treated me of all these autoimmune disease..I recommend you contact him https: www.facebook.com/Great-doctor-ebhodaghe-103909499400537

Herbal treatment is 100% guarantee for disease, the reason why most people are finding it difficult to cure disease is because they believe on medical report, drugs and medical treatment which is not helpful to cure disease. Its International Day of the Midwife, and RBWH midwives Ang and Clare know that this is an area where they will need even more colleagues in the future. 🤰

In 2023, RBWH delivered 4,296 babies and cared for the families behind them to feel supported in their next stage of life.

Ang and Clare are both nurses who turned to midwifery, with Clare only joining the profession in the last year.

I really loved the idea of bringing new life into the world - its very different to nursing in the sense that a lot of our patients arent sick, but its a different vibe and I really like it, Clare said.

Ive always had an interest in this area including fertility and how it all works, Ang said, who has been a midwife for 15 years. 💖

I love helping mums and making sure they are equipped and also kind to themselves.

On the days when Samantha isnt busy being a renal nurse educator at RBWH, she is a member of the Arana Hills knitting for the needy group making special knitted pieces for her patients. 🧶

Sam has only just recently joined the group, but already has contributed a handful of beanies, scarves, shawls, mittens, and mended broken blankets or half-finished projects to be distributed to various hospitals and charities. 🧣

Sam knows that her patients receiving kidney dialysis treatment often get cold, especially on their hand, on the arm that the vascular access fistula is in.

Typically, that hand will receive less perfusion or blood flow, resulting in that hand getting cold which is why I made the special mittens, Sam said.

This group has been very kind to me, helping myself going through a rough time so I want to return the favour - it feels good being able to give back and offer comfort to my patients.

#ShoutoutSaturday👏 to Samantha and the knitting for the needy group for their thoughtful gifts.
