They have the most amazing selection of dragons, fairies, and mythic statues. They also have a very good selection of the usual new age miscellany; crystals, dream-catchers, incense, candles, tarot decks, self-help books and arcane pendants. Very nice atmosphere too.
I attended this school. They had good facilities, which they were improving at the time. The teachers were engaging. The options for sport were widely varied. They could have had better careers counseling.
My daughter attended this school. In her Kindergarten year she was regarded as "the naughty child" due to undiagnosed ADD. We heard nothing about her behaviour in class until Year 1 when a new teacher took over her class midway through the year. The school had no idea how to handle a special needs child. Despite being an expensive private school, there was no perceptible advantage gained by having our daughter attend.
I had a standing order with them for a bloody long time. They were efficient, reliable, and very tolerant of my irregularity of turning up to collect my comics. They were also the source of the majority of my gifts to friends and loved ones for years.
The bad. Poorly resourced; the toys out in the yard were old, faded, if not broken. Poorly staffed; trainees unsupervised, staffed chatting in little groups instead of supervising the children during play time, no cook so the carers having to take the time to prepare meals for the children. The Good? Some of the staff really did care about the kids. Not sure if they work there anymore.
No matter how last minute or sudden the need for a great big slab of yummy cholesterol, they always have the perfect cake. The caramel mud cake is excellent.
I've had some pretty good chocolate and other flavoured beverages from GJ's but their coffee always tastes like it's been burned. The staff are fine, the prices bearable, but the coffee is not to my taste.
The staff were keen, passionate about the hobby, and knowledgeable of the game's long history. Moreso, they were dismissive of neither myself, a twenty year veteran, nor my daughter, an eight year old novice. The staff member in question was incredibly patient, and spent the time to teach my daughter the basics of painting miniatures. Five stars guys. Five stars.
I was after an out-of-print book on the first world war, and these guys really came through for me. At other times, they have held books and special ordered books for me, and always with a friendly word.
An excellent selection of rare and hard to get miniatures. This is THE place to go for wargaming and roleplaying tabletop miniatures. Nothing but helpful and informative staff and an excellent selection of stock at reasonable prices.
