This is our Wollongong Thai 'regular' - we get takeaway every couple of weeks. The food is delicious and there's a good range, including vegetarian options. My favourite is the stir-fried rice noodles with chili and basil - hot, spicy, and delicious!
Approximate cost: $16
State of Bean focuses on Fairtrade certified coffee beans, and provides a great range of these at excellent prices. Roasting is done to order, and free delivery is available in the Wollongong area. We just tried our first cup of their East Timor beans and it tasted great. What more could you ask for?
Approximate cost: $8 per 250g
Graze is a great addition to the Balgownie shops - it's basically a good quality butcher's shop that also stocks an interesting selection of gourmet ingredients and ready meals. We're vegetarians, so can't comment on the meat side of things, but the frozen tortellini, Sicilian olives and white miso paste we've tried have all been excellent. Graze would be even more tempting to visit if it stocked good quality Fairtrade coffee beans!
Kombu Wholefoods stocks a wide range of wholefoods and other healthy stuff, the regular types and some hard-to-find items. They provide online ordering and delivery, which is fantastic when like me you don't live near them. If I did live nearby, Kombu would be my supermarket!
Biome sells an outstanding range of sustainable items, showcases local designers and makes it easy to make informed choices. Affordable freight charges make it easy to shop from interstate.
