We love this chinese restaurant. It is the only one in the riverland now. They do lunch specials for $10 which are served with fried rice but this is for takeaway only. The rice is really nice. Prices are good and they give us a container if we cant eat it all. We have had a banquet a few times and were pleased with what we got and the serve sizes. Love the satay beef, chicken and cashews and sweet and sour pork. We are creatures of habit and usually have the same each time. When we have chosen something different we haven't been disappointed. Prices are good too.

This store has everything even milk and chooclates. This is the only place in town you can petrol. They are really great cos if you are here holidaying and you need petrol when the are shut they will open the store for you. How many places do that. This is a great town to holiday in and live. They have a good range of hardware items for a small town /shop and are very good with the prices.

This is the local store, where you get your local papers, magazines, Sunday Mail and Advertiser. Fruit and veg, milk and bread. They even have a prescription service which is good. This is also the local post office but you cannot pay any bills. She has a small range of grocery items. Maureen is the lady who runs the place. You see her about staying at the recreation grounds.

We still visit Cadell Club for a meal every now and then even though we dont live there now. This is a lovely freindly club. There is a play area for the kids with toys, play area for the adults (pokies). The meals are prepared by local VOLUNTEERS, yep volunteers. How many towns would do that. At one stage every body that worked at the club were not paid to help keep the club afloat or it would have closed. How great is that for a town. The outside has been done up nicely and you sit out there and have your drink or meals or join the smokers. There is an 8 ball table and choclate machine. If you come here once you'll come back.

We sometimes come here for coffee and cake. A local lady makes the cakes and they are delicious. You can have a meal or sandwhich. We usually have chips and gravy and share with the kids. They also offer pensioner meals which are good value. You can sit in side or out. We go to Waikerie every 2 weeks and spread our money around and dont visit the same place every time. We sort of do a roster of where we visit because the places are so good.

I have been going here for 7 years. In Waikerie there are 2 other haidressers and I had been to both but love the atmosphere of Bellismo. The staff and owner are really happy and friendly. Your never kept waiting. You get a really good hair wash, thats the best part. Lots of magazines to read. The offer you a coffee or tea. They have a rewards system for every $10 you spend, starting at $70 I think. They are really good with kids. I have never been disappointed with a cut or colour. I moved to Loxton 12 months ago and still go there. But I may try somewhere in Loxton to support my locals.

I have been taking my cars to these guys for a few years now. A couple of times I have been late with my payment, I just explain and they are fine with that. They do excellent work and go out of their way to find second hand parts if they are needed. They do such great work that we now live in Loxton and still take our cars to Ian Rogers the owner. Because they are Honda they have motorbikes, chain saws and helmets. It is worth a visit. For 4 years we didnt go there cos we didnt know they were mechanics we thought they were just honda sellers. If we had only known back then we could have had good mechanical work done for the last 10 years instead of 6. Take your car there you will not be dissappointed.

This review is for Barmera Market, Barmera SA

The Barmera markets are on the first Sunday of the month, October to June. Too cold in winter. There is a great variety of handmade goodies from bread, jam, cakes, kids clothing, jewellery, bags and then there is a lot of imported products. I have 2 friends who go every market except October as they are at the Loxton show. They are Cards by Kaye, she also makes bags and has lot of material available. Belinda sells jewellery that she makes herself and there is some really nice pieces and at great prices, she also makes dreamcatchers. If you like to make your own jewellery she also has a range of beads and threads. When you visit the market make sure you bring some shopping bags cos you fill them up easy.

I love shopping in here. It is a loxcare charity shop. The oldies are lovely and enjoy a chat with them. I happened to go in one day for a school shirt and came out with 2 bags of goodies and a couple of hand bags, but it did help that they happened to have a sale on that day. If you need cheap furniture you go to the back of the loxcare and the blokes run the shed plus there are some plants and push bikes. In the main part of the shop they sell lots of material which is not second hand. If you need help the loxcare office is at the side in the next street.

This review is for Orange Grove Bakery, Waikerie SA

verified email - 13 Aug 2013

This is the same bakery as on the highway, but the bakery charge 40 or 50 cents extra for pies coffee and cakes than here. The prices have stayed the same here for the locals. The place is not much to look at, needs a bit of tlc and proper clean on the customer side. But its nice to sit there and enjoy a coffee. They have a specials table where they sell off left overs from the day before. There is only 1 staff member til 11.30 so if there are a few customers before that and they all want coffee you are in for a long wait.
