I do alot of work at the showgrounds and have never been to the farmers market, but it is always busy!! People everywhere and it seems like good quality produce. I am trying to make a time and date to go.
I have only just started going to the ASFM as I generally go to the Central Market. I love the cosy community feel of it and cooking classes etc. I find the produce more expensive than the Central Market but it is less crowded, easier to park and has things you wouldn't find easily at the Central Market. The vendors and staff were all very friendly and helpful, just as you would expect.
The first time I visited this market I was quite surprised by the variety of foods available - just thought it was just fruit and vegetables. Love the cooking demonstrations and availability of different types of food, bakery items etc. Regular visitor now. Everything is so fresh unlike most supermarket fruit and veggies.
The Farmers markets at Wayville is a great alternative to the supermarket to get fresh fruit and veg. Lots of organic options available also. the only downside is that it is an open air market so when the weather is wet its not so great.
The farmers market is a great place to visit even on a damp day. There is a huge selection of gourmet foods to taste yummy cheeses, lovely breads.cakes.olives plus as well as the usual stands of fresh fruit and vegetables. Prices good.
