Have not been to the Adelaide zoo for a while now but I will review it based on the days before the arrival of the exciting `pandas` and the newly upgraded zoo facilities.
I was always a bit of a fan of the Adelaide zoo, and although it was definitely in need of an upgrade, (that is now completed.) I still thought it was always a great fun day out to be had by all. It can be a long day and if you have kids, (exhausted children at the end of a day out, is generally a welcome thing.) I think the Adelaide zoo has a great selection of animals and some good interactive elements also. Being there for the feeding times is a really exciting experience and if you are planning on going there, try and plan for this. There are plenty of places to sit down and have a rest, including the good old kiosk where you can have lunch and fill up on drinks, or ice cream if its a hot day. No trip to the Adelaide zoo is complete without catching the Popeye riverboat there. (An experience a lot of people miss out on.) Makes the day at the zoo more memorable and fun! After doing this review I am really looking forward to going there this summer and seeing the pandas and the new upgrades they have done.

Great place to visit for a few hours. Price is a little steep. Animal enclosures are kept neat and tidy and so are the paths. Food is expensive, so take your own.

Approximate cost: $30.00

Love the zoo. The ticket staff are always friendly and great with kids. It is the perfect size for a two hour or so visit. Great range of animals and love seeing animals being fed. Lots of little refreshment places to buy an icecream or a meal. Also little "cars" are on hire for kids to be pushed around in.

I agree it is a great visit and fun for kids but must admit its very pricey to go as a family too often unfortunately. My kids would go more often if it wasn't so expensive whereas now I will only take them at best once a year.

Took my grandaughter to the Adelaide Zoo what a BIG BIG BIG DISAPIONTMENT, firstly for a 5 year old $18.00 Adult $31.50 try & find animals not easy but the Panda's they were in full view so they should be for the overall cost for their enclosures totally a "waiste of big money", went to see the penguins (not their) as were so many other animals orangutan no were to be seen, then the childrens zoo that was Absolutely disgusting you could not evan buy any food to feed the decreped animals. Adelaide Zoo what a joke it is a total Embarrassment for Adelaide they spend millions to get the panda's & the rest of the Zoo suffers no wonder it is going broke then there is the food, drinks in the machine not very cold, cooked chips looked like they had been cooked several times & cold, not a good day out very very disappointed. Adelaide Zoo should take a look @ the other Zoo's across Australia to see how a Zoo is run.

Approximate cost: $120.00

I don't enjoy seeing animals in cages but I always try to support Adelaide Zoo. Plenty to see and do and makes for a good full day of entertainment and wearing out the children. Some of the enclosures have been refurbished but there are still plenty more that need attention. Sometimes the boredom is evident in the animals behaviour and I think the Panda's are a very big waste of money. The bird enclosure is quite lovely to walk through and if you are lucky you can see one of the monkeys or birds that are allowed to roam free in the zoo. The petting zoo is always good for the children but watch those goats! You can still buy food to feed them which is not too badly priced. Entry fee is to be expected for a zoo and I never mind paying money to keep it running as we would all be unhappy if it closed, whether or not we go there. I always get great service and you can bring your own lunch to cut down the cost a bit. Plenty of public toilets and change rooms plus nice eating facilities to eat in or take away.

Approximate cost: $20

We went to the Zoo from my work. I thought that was average, nothing much has changed to when I wentt o the zoo many years ago. only that a new facility has been built for the pandas and if I personally had to pay to get in would not have gone. The entry fee is equivelant to the cost of a Lunch with a drink and I know where I would have put my money.

Approximate cost: $18.50

Pretty Good experience.
Large and beautiful historic grounds
The panda's are great :)
Great range of animals but sadly no elephants.

Pricey but I guess it's expensive to maintain a Zoo!
Street parking is ok but can be tricky at times. Make sure you have coins for the parking machines.

Food and Drink available but I prefer to take my own and enjoy a picnic on the beautiful lawns.
Wide paths make it easy to get around.

A nice family day out experience is to catch the popeye from Elder Park to the Zoo and return. (You don't need to book)

I visited the zoo for the 1st time last July and I loved it. This is one of the biggest zoo I've ever been with lots and various animals. I also like the way they design the pathway and each sections of the zoo. It's easy to get around and I am sure that kids will love this place. They have pandas, Wang Wang and Funni, which I think is a plus for the zoo.

We have zoo membership, which makes the zoo a great family outing. Kids under 4 are free. Individual tickets are a little expensive but with membership you can go as often as you like in a year - yuo only need to go 3 times and you have your entry fees covered. There are many different animals to see - the kids love the lions, pandas and snakes. It's great to go to the kids zoo where you can walk through and feed animals. And if you go at the right time you can pat special ones they have out for you.
