For a long time now, Spanish food has remained a hidden gem. Alegrias aims to bring you authentic, honest Spanish cuisine the way mum used to cook at home using the finest fresh local produce. It is believed that the Tapas tradition began when King Alfonso XIII the wise recovered from illness by drinking wine accompanied by small tasting plates between meals. After regaining his health, he decreed that all taverns in Spain would not be allowed to serve their patrons wine unless it was accompanied by a small snack also known as "Tapas".. At Alegrias we believe Tapas is not just about small plates, Chef Javier Sevilla believes Tapas to be "the finest local ingredients, simply prepared to be enjoyed with family and friends over great conversation.

A spanish restaurant with a lovely warm atmosphere. Had dinner here last night with a friend and shared a few dishes. Food is okay but definitely on the expensive side, probably a good place to come for special occasions. Staff were lovely and very accommodating.

Delicious Food, Fantastic Setting and Overall 5-Star Dining Experience - Alegrias Spanish Tapas Balmain Review

This would have to be the BEST Spanish Restaurant in Sydney! We have tried many Spanish restaurants across the country and internationally and must say Alegrias Spanish Tapas really offers an experience in a class of its own.

From the gracious waiter seating us on arrival, to the modern-rustic dining setting and the mouth-watering dishes, tapas and desserts along with the authentic flavours of Spanish wines - we had an amazing experience and we can't wait to go back for more!

Food Tips - Order the Pata's Bravas (yum!) and the Seafood Paella was so authentically prepared it tasted just like we had in Spain during our travels - Highly Recommend the Seafood Paella it is delicious, authentic and very fresh! The Croquetas were a delight and the dessert was a Belgium Chocolate Fondue with Churros hand-made and freshly cooked â€“ to die for!

Alegrias Spanish Tapas Restaurant gets a positive 5 Star vote from me and possibly the BEST Spanish Restaurant in Sydney and Absolutely the BEST Spanish Restaurant Balmain has to offer!
