We had a major rebuilding job on our hands which needed a nail gun. We looked into hiring one of these for around $90 a day and worked out it would be cheaper in the long run (and more convenient) to spend the money and buy one ourselves if we were going to need it for more than a week or so.

We went to All Tools who are situated between Geelong Road and Francis Street in a complex of paint and furniture and motorcycle shops along this busy thoroughfare. But you go in a service road and there's plenty of parking and no traffic out the front.

The staff were very helpful, listening to what we needed and steering us to the right product. The air compressor varieties were a little more than we wanted to pay, so ended up with the air cartridge using type. It's a Paslode 30 degree Frame Nailer, and with extra cartridges and a couple of other things it all came to around $700. But it's going to mean we can do this major job (verandah) and own the device instead of renting and taking it back.

No doubt we'll find other things to fix with it, or lend it out. And doing it ourselves will save a lot of money too.

This shop has a LOT of tools, as you'd expect and all serious quality. And it's big enough to carry a large range of stock. Well worth a visit for the tradie or serious handyman/renovator.
