As a senior in the painting industry and a tradesman myself it’s a pleasure to have someone like Mick to perform works effectively and reliably and on time to a high professional standard. I have had the pleasure of two opportunities to have Mick work on my inner urban property and on both occasions ten out of ten

I would highly recommend Archer Fencing and Gates—Mick was friendly, helpful, professional, and communicated well about all aspects of the job.

When Mick first arrived on site to do the quoted work, I soon realised that some additional fencing was required and asked Mick if he could complete that too. Despite the fact that he had already planned the time, labour and materials for the initial work, he immediately sourced additional materials and agreed to do the extra work. This resulted in the job taking longer than anticipated, but Mick and his team worked tirelessly, often in the rain, to get the job completed with as little delay and disruption as possible.

The work was done to a very high standard with quality materials, and Mick also reinforced an adjoining fence without being asked to do so. Mick was a pleasure to deal with and I have no doubt that he handles all his jobs with the same degree of friendliness and professionalism.

Mick completed a 122 boundary fence for us. His workmanship is exceptional. There are no short cuts regarding materials used or his attention to detail. Absolutely recommend Mick.

I have been the chairman of a very large Body Corporate development in Doncaster, Victoria, for over 20 years. We have 27 free standing homes over quite a large area. Getting trades-people to quote on jobs is one story, but getting quality trades-people is an art in itself. We have had over a dozen fence and boundary related repairs over the last 20 years and the best I can say for even the best of those repairs is that it has been satiscfactory workmanship with average quality material. Then I found Mick Archer.

Due to shody, lazy building by the original developers, we were recently faced with a fence re-instatement which was extremely complicated by the need to completely redesign and engineer a three foot high retaining wall below the fence. The fence itself needed to be an 8 foot high corral fence in itself for privacy reasons. I had four or five so called professional fencers look at the job. None of them submitted quotes on this job and the last just laughed when he saw the required job.

I found Mick by chance in a local paper and was happy when he promptly turned up. We commissioned Mick who gave us a quote that seemed entirely reasonable for a large job. Mick's only stipulation to us was that he insisted on using galvanised steel for the uprights. I didn't like the concept but he convinced me by explaining that wood just could not be used on such a high structure that was also retaining four feet of earth.

Mick and his assistant turned up right on time and got to work. Two days into the job, we found out why the original fence was a disaster. Right below the surface was a solid clay bed from a previous Pine plantation. Harder than concrete and impervious to even serious power tools. Mick told me that he could not compromise and that the footings had to be dug down to his required calcuted depth or else the build would be flawed.

There was no talk of increasing the quoted costs and the footings needed to be dug by hand as we couldn't get machines in. The back-breaking work added two days to the job in searing heat. (for Mick and Co)

Moving fast forward, Mick completed the most amazing high quality fence I have ever seen. Literally it is insanely good. The job has been completed for some time now (over two years) but hasn't flexed, moved or settled by a quarter of an inch. I didn't know Mick Archer "from Adam" but I'd be glad to recommend his business without any reservation whatsoever. Just a friendly and incredibly hard working professional fencer.

I would also be glad to send photos of the aforementioned 'great wall' to anyone who would like a look. If you doubt the quality, drop me a line and I'll show you the fence in person. Mick Archer Fencing is now one of my treasured trade contacts.

UPDATE --- I've used Mick again to tackle another similar nightmare fence at the back of my property. Same great standards, same friendly service, same fantastic fence.

I've referred Mick to a number of family and personal contacts and he continues to impress - not one of my referrals has been anything other than thrilled with his work and reasonable prices.

When they rang to say they would come they arrived on the day stated. Their work was done swiftly. Mick and Glenn cleaned up after their work was done. The fences look very strong and straight. We were more than happy and have got them to quote on the other fence.

Approximate cost: $500
