This place has undergone a significant turnaround.
It used to be great when it first opened (early 2000s). It was the younger, more casual sibling restaurant to Jacques Reymond, won Age Cheap Eat awards for several years.
Then things went down hill. The kitchen stopped updating its meals, resulting in a stale impression, service levels dropped off etc etc.
Recently I was at Federation Square, and stopped by (it was thought to be the best of a terrible situation, federation square is sadly devoid of decent dining venues).
Things have improved.
The menu is fresh, full of energy, reflects seasonal produce available and offers a range of plates to suit a diners of varying taste preferences.
Price point wise, it is mid market and delivers a polished contemporary atmosphere with nice meals.

We had a party of 8 there on Saturday - the steaks were gorgeous but the salmon was sadly overcooked, though the sauce was fresh and zingy. Wait staff were so lovely, very diplomatic humoring a drunk in our party and attentive without being intrusive - great location in Fed Square for out of towners to enjoy. Would go back but would order a steak next time.
Approximate cost: $30
Hi Ferly, just wondering whether you returned for the steak and if so, how the restaurant fared the second time round? In all honesty, we would usually render a cautious approach with any business incapable of cooking salmon. Given that Australia has some of the worldâ??s best seafood, we find it disconcerting that so many restaurants concoct overly â??busyâ?? dishes (that mask the overall flavour and/or freshness) or overcook quality seafood offerings, which is just as shameful. As far as cooking â??freshâ?? seafood, one should adopt the â??KISSâ?? approach. We were however encouraged to hear that wait staff were attentive and not intrusive. Thanks for your comments. Reeces
This place provides modern Australian cuisine with a host of regular items such as fish and chips, foccacias and pasta. A lunch menu provides a good range of items and service is friendly and cheerful. Prices are in line with other restaurants if you order from the lunch specials menu, however if you order from the regular menu then it's a bit on the high side. Food quality is good, but nothing spectacular. Overall a good place to catch up with friends for a quick bite.
This restaurant was closed for renovations but is expected to re-open shortly.
Approximate cost: $18
a great spot for a nice meal or a drink with your mates. The location is pleasant, with a nice contemporary feel to the place.
Not crowded or noisy like so many Federation Square dining places. I like it because they have a good selection of small entree items, a bit like a tapas menu, mostly under $10. Prices seem fair for a CBD restaurant, wine and beer lists are good. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Approximate cost: $17

Hi Rosep1, from what you have described, this place sounds most agreeable. Any restaurant who actively incorporates fresh â??seasonalâ?? produce into their menu is certainly off to a promising start! Regards, Reeces
