The person behind the counter tried to sell me a 3 in 1 set of helmet, elbow and knee pads, at full price without any of the pads, because 'that's just the box the helmets came in'.
I asked for spit fire 52mm wheels, he pulls out 53s and I say to him 'those are 53's' and he just ignores me and adds it the pile of stuff we're buying. Charged my friend $50 for black panther bearings, everywhere else the things are $30.

Went down with attitude of 'It would be good to support my local store'

Left with the attitude of 'oh yeah, my local store is in Ringwood, no wonder that [redacted due to offensive language] tried to stooge us 3 times in the one sale".

Approximate cost: $200

These guys probably have the best selection of snowboards that I have seen outside of the city. Service is very good and the store is very funky with a skate bowl in the middle! One of the best alternative sports stores in Melbourne.

I loved this place!
Skate ramp in the middle of the shop!
Im in my late thirtees, and even though they say the 30s are the new 20s I do still feel a little out of my depth going into some of these stores where the demographics are a lot younger.
Not here! Felt very welcomed and the staff rocked. Great sale on ski clothing as well!
Comfortable store although staff probably not very knowledgable in all areas so don't expect all the right answers to your questions... But if you know what you want then this is the store for you.
They don't carry the toff brands such as Spyder etc but more so the cooler brands with the younger snowboarding crowd... Plenty of Burton and Foursquare...

Ive been into Ballistyx twice.
The first time was to buy boots and bindings for my snowboard, I knew what i wanted but it seemed he only tried to sell me the most expensive gear and i didn't feel as though I received genuine advice.

The second time I went to buy a skateboard full set up, all they had were about 10 boards, 1 set of wheels, 1 set of bearings and no grip tape. What kind of skateboard shop does not have grip tape?

I won't be going back there again.

I took my 6yo daughter in to buy safety equipment to use when roller skating, the guy was extremely helpful and friendly and really helped me figre out what I needed - and I actually ended up buying less than I'd originally planned because we decided the rest wasn't necessary. He was great with the kids, really talked to them which we all appreciated

I shop here pretty regularly. They are friendly, but their customer service needs a real boost.
Product-wise, it can take them months to order in a product!!

Approximate cost: $good value for money, average prices.
