Love eating here, especially the penang beef that comes with a side of rice. Quite cheap, not many places you can eat from under $10 and be satisfied.
My partner gets the Nasi Goreng and loves it as its not spicy.
I like eating in as you get free hot tea.

I like Basil House: it's cheapish, cheerful and unpretentious. There are nearly 90 choices of mains and we tend to get the stir-fries with steamed rice (most are $8.90, seafood $10.50 or so). You can also have the very hearty noodle/dumpling soups if you are really hungry.

Our favourite dish so far is the stir fried basil beef. I've also tried the chef's special fried rice (a bit stodgy), beef with oyster sauce (nice but a little bland) and the chicken with cashew nuts (surprisingly spicy but would prefer more veggies). They have Vietnamese type dishes with rice vermicelli and soups. Plenty of choices and prices are cheaper than the two restaurants nearby.

This was my partner's regular dinner stop when he lived in Preston and he likes it for the same reasons I do. His only complaint was that it gets very noisy and busy. With prices like these for dinner, it's no wonder.

I have only dined at this restaurant on one occasion for a quick lunch. I ordered crispy noodles with seafood. The price was very reasonable at $8.90. However the taste was nice, but the plate had so much noodles and only a small portion of seafood pieces and vegetables. I found that the plate was overfilled with the gravy sauce.

Service was good, the waiter was friendly and gave me a thermos of tea when I first sat down.

One good concept is the menu has photos of the dish next to the menu item, which is helpful to identify exactly what you are ordering.

Big variety of dishes on the menu. i would recommend the Vietnamese vermicelli meals and the honey chicken. Service is prompt and the dishes came out very shortly after ordering. Complimentary tea is provided which is a plus. i love tea.

Approximate cost: $10.00

I have read reviews from some of the other sites and quite surprised with a few of the negative feedbacks about Basil House, this place is by far one of the best restaurants around, food served is always good and fresh, service is by far the best in the entire strip, many of you can testify that, no wonder the place gets very busy particularly on Fri and Sat nights.

I highly recommend this place, good food and customer service aside, in your next visit, pay attention to the overall cleanliness of the place (kitchen and rest rooms) and compare with the ones nearby.

I hope this bit of info feedback helps!
