The Brisbane City Council has done a fine job in improving the foreshore of the Brisbane River since the 2011 floods. A shady bike path stretches alongside Coronation Drive from the city right out to Toowong and it is well signed with occasional seats and drinking fountains too. It is a pleasant, breezy place to exercise or use to commute to the city...either on foot, rollerblades or bicycle. A word of warning though. It can be extremely busy at certain times with very fast cyclists whizzing by and I strongly advise against taking young children out there on scooters who are inexperienced and not quick enough to get out of the way in time! Accidents will happen. I'd suggest that cyclists ring a bell or sound a horn to make pedestrians aware of their approach. More free car parking bays on Coronation Drive would be welcomed too.
