1 review about Body Collective

verified email - 13 Nov 2023

I bought 4 roll-on nail serums (vanilla, caramel vanilla, watermelon and Japanese honeysuckle) from Body Collective and they arrived on 20 September 2023. The vanilla serum was for me and the other three were intended as small gifts. Unfortunately, try as I would, I could not get the rolling function of the vanilla serum to work. It just would not roll and therefore would not dispense the serum. Consequently, I had to check the other three roll-on bottles as I did not want to give them as gifts and have them not work.

As a result of the above, I ended up having one bottle of serum where the roll-on function does not work and three other bottles that were intended for gifts but that I am reluctant to use as gifts as I had to try them to ensure that they work and I did not feel that it was right to give away something that had been used. In addition to not being able to use one bottle, I no longer had three bottles to give away as presents. When I contacted Body Collective, they suggested that I screw the lid on more tightly on the one roll-on that is not working and 'that should fix it', according to them. Well, it did not.

After some argy-bargy, Body Collective finally agreed to pay for the postage to return the four roll-ons back to them with an undertaking to replace them with 'new' ones. Owing to the unprofessional and unsatisfactory communications I had with Tayla Kennedy, the founder and co-director of Body Collective, I was no longer confident of them doing the right thing by me. So, prior to sending the four roll-ons back to them for replacement with new products, I ensured that I made identifying marks on all four roll-ons so that I could ascertain for certain whether they had actually replaced them with new ones. I sent the parcel back to them on 11 October 2023 and did not receive anything back from them until 2 November 2023. This is despite having paid upfront for the roll-ons back in mid September.

When I checked the four items that I received, sure enough, they had not replaced them, as the identifying marks on all four of them were still there. Sure, the rolling-on function of the vanilla serum was now working and dispensing the serum. The others, I tried them out with gloves and they worked, like they did before, but they were not faulty, just used. I had sent them back to be replaced not because they were faulty but because they were used and I was reluctant to give away used items as gifts. But the roll-ons returned to me were old, they were not replaced with new products. This, despite Ms Kennedy's email dated 27 October 2023 saying 'Your parcel has just been delivered to us yesterday afternoon & the "new" 4 rollers have been sent.' They were NOT new rollers, Ms Kennedy, and I know that for a fact, because of the identifying marks I had made on all four of them. Shame on you and your company for attempting to pass them off as new items.

This is the calibre (or lack thereof) of the kind of company you are dealing with when it comes to Body Collective, people, so beware.

I try to support local Australian companies and this is the first time I have been so thoroughly mistreated by the unprofessional and unacceptable business practices of any local Australian company. To all those who purchased or intend to purchase any products from Body Collective, you have been warned. This is the kind of unconscionable business practices you will encounter, the kind of unprofessionalism you will face. This entire episode with Body Collective has left me with utter disgust. Shame on you, Tayla Kennedy and Body Collective. I expected better from Australian businesses.

Postscript: I posted the above comments on Body Collective's Facebook page and Ms Kennedy deleted it. If you are duplicitous and shameless enough to cheat your customers, why delete factual comments?

Postscript no. 2: After Ms Kennedy deleted my comments above on Body Collective's Facebook page, I re-posted the same comments several more times on Body Collective's Facebook page. Ms Kennedy proceeded to block me from Body Collective's page. This is the unscrupulous business practice of an unethical company, intent on making money at all costs and unable to operate on an honest, ethical and professional basis. If you cannot face up to honest feedback and run a company on a professional, customer-focused basis, then I suggest you do not go into business, Ms Kennedy.

Approximate cost: $60
