Ignored because doctors were finishing soon and didn't want another patient

I will not come here again. My mother had a fall and cut open her leg badly early in the morning. I looked up the closest emergency room which was Cabrini so we headed there ASAP. It was around 6:30am when we arrived there was no one in the waiting room. When my mother initially saw the staff and was notified there was a $500 fee because it is a private hospital, we figured considering there was no one else there at least she would be seen soon so it would be worth not going to a public hospital.

We then waited for over 2 hours in the waiting room, with not another person there, before someone finally saw my mum (around 9am) and was told it is because we came around the doctors changeover time.

The doctor after seeing my mother advised that he needed to see her again within a week. My mother advised that wouldn't be possibly because her daughter was getting married out of town and she wouldn't be in Melbourne. He advised to come back a few days later when she could. Upon arriving for the follow up appointment my mother was advised it would be another $500 because she didn't come back within the recommended timeframe.

We could have seen another doctor for a lot less if advised this earlier.

Approximate cost: $1000

I was here in 2021.
Due to AC in room both my partner and I became sick. Asked to be tested for COVID. Reluctantly the hospital did. Results were negative, however we got treated like second class citizens.
Back now in 2023 for baby #2, hopeful of a better experience. Some of the midwife’s are brilliant. Go over and above. We’ve coped 2 old school nurses, telling us things which totally contradict what the other nurses are saying and or doing. Examples: how to get out of bed post a c section, how often to use an opened formula milk for your baby, where to inject you for clot prevention. “Paper cups which are deemed environmentally friendly” offered in the tea room, I get pulled up why I’m not using the glasses as paper cups are bad for the environment, well the hospital is supplying them!
I should also mention Cabrini lost all our confidential administrative paperwork which contains our health records and personal details in 2021.

I was admitted to Cabrini Hospital on 21.04.2022 for a procedure and I would like to express my appreciation to the nurse Eva Molino. Her skilled professional treatment was very appreciated. I wish that all nurses were as friendly and helpful while doing their hard and important job.

Over the last 10 years have - unfortunately - visited this A&E unit ...all mistakes - horribly slow , expensive , little sympathy , horrendously expensive ......and thats if you are (un)lucky to actually get in !

Not recommended. Sloppy admin on repeated occasions. “Forgot” to feed my father when he was in there. Booked ahead and then told there was no room or bed for him when he got there and had to share a room with a crazy bloke with Alzheimer’s. No sleep due to constant interruptions. Poor nurses chronically understaffed and run off their feet. Dad was frail but was Left to shower without a seat or any standing aide and fell, fracturing his leg. This fracture led to his untimely death from shock after two days of not being diagnosed despite repeated requests from family members for the doctor to get it checked. Don’t take your loved ones to this hospital.

I had my baby there and I'm not happy withe the care of my birth. I was rushed to theatre for an emergency c-section and when I got there the theatre staff didn't introduce themselves, nor did anyone speak to me at all and after the baby was born she was taken away without explanation and I was taken to this big recovery room, curtained off and left to cry. I brought this up with Cabrini and they issued me a written apology about some of this but I'm still traumatised by the experience. They actually said there was no reason for the theatre staff to not introduce themselves or speak to me and make me feel comfortable because there was no life threatening situation and normally they are kind to the parents and make them feel safe and secure because they acknowledge that it is a scary experience for the women. The stay in the hospital was average. The midwives were nice enough but breastfeeding wasn't working and when I asked for formula they made me feel guilty about it and talked me out of it. On coming home I saw a lactation consultant who said my milk hadn't come in and the baby was starving. Not a good way to send a new mum home

I really think this hospital is very high up in my list of go to doctrs. As my father was in hospital at cabrini for a few weeks, him being very sick was tiring. As the nurses were very kind and supportive i found cabrini to be a very high tec place.

I think that it was a very professional service and the waiting wasn't very long as my husband came from emergency and was taken to a doctor and allocated a bed promptly.

I was really very disappointed by the nursery at Cabrini. The midwives were demeaning, they all had a different set of policies and rules so it was impossible to know what to do. I was excluded from caring/feeding my premature baby. They didn't convey vital information to the paediatrician so they virtually held his progression back. I am convinced we got to take him home earlier because i spoke up and the paediatrician could see the midwives incompetence. I had high hopes of Cabrini but this let me down. the rooms are nice albeit the airconditioning was cold. nexttime Northpark is my choice
