I have heard great things about this place and finally dropped in for lunch the other day. I must say I was dissapointed, the menu was not very interesting. I finally settled on a toasted sandwich and my partner had the roast of the day. He asked if they had any horseradish, they didn't have any but offered him chutney instead! . Hardly the same, they managed to provide some mustard. The beef was dry and the veggies didn;t look all that appetising. We had a chai latte which surprisingly was brewed from chai tea, not made with a syrup. With new cafe's popping up all over Belgrave Cafe Green Bean needs to pick up its game.
Approximate cost: $10
Recent changes to the Green Bean have given it a new lease of life. Fresh new menu, lots of light, squeaky clean venue, and a bunch of new tables and chairs that all add to a more relaxed, roomier setting. Cathy and her friendly staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. And it's not just the staff; the other customers are just as friendly! You'll make one or two new friends before you finish your free trade Gravity latte! The menu is lively with plenty for those in a hurry or those who want to stay and relax. You must try Brendan's gourmet beefburger; I haven't had a burger like that in twenty years! Good coffee, good food, good people and a few laughs on the house.

Green Bean Cafe is one of those classic community hubs so fearfully lacking in our society.
Sure, service might be a little slow when the cafe is full, but it is understandable given that there is only one chef shouldering the load.
The food is first class and the coffee is as least as good as the hipster centres of St Kilda or Brunswick.
Food and coffee are well priced - it will cost you less than the average outer suburban cafe experience, but double the cool factor. Mind you, this isn't the sort of place to be rubbing shoulders with the glitterati of Melbourne - instead you get local alt-types, mums and dads and small families coming in, sharing food and chatting to you in a friendly manner.
Green Bean is truly one of the gems of the Dandenongs and one of the best places to visit in the main Belgrave shopping strip.
Cannot recommend it enough. It has truly become our "local."

Addit - byo coffee cup / mug and they'll fill it for you on the spot :)
Lovely selection of juices which are freshly made before your eyes. Service can be a little slow at times. The food is fresh and tasty.
One of my all time favourite cafes. I can't go past the vege burgers they make and the best hot chocolate I've had. I go back here whenever I can and never get tired of the delicious lunches they do. They are reasonably priced and the stripey cups are the best! I liked them so much that I bought myself a set of green bean style cups for home!
A funky little cafe tucked away in belgrave. They make a really delicious breakfast and make fresh juices and yummy smoothies. They have toys for the kids to keep them amused
