The thick shakes here are unbelievable. However if your on a diet I suggest you don't go there. Unless you can control yourself. Its on the South Gippy highway and we stop on the way to Phillip island

Approximate cost: $12

We love coming to Caldermeade! The kids have a great time looking at and petting the animals. We then head to the cafe for a milkshake and scones. The food is so fresh and tasty! The only downside of our visits to Caldermeade is the fact that it's so popular - there are always heaps of other people there.

Prices here can be phenomenal but for a tourist attraction this can be expected. A shame they advertise "real farm milkshakes" but use the milk from the big producers instead of from their own cows. Store is clean & staff very helpful. There is plenty here for the kids to do with a play ground, petting area & seeing the cows being milked.

Love love this place! The cafe has a great yummy menu, staff are very welcoming and customer service is excellent. We love the scones and coffee! My daughter loves the animal nursery, always different animals to see and you can even touch them too! There is also a playground and tables outside when the weather is nice. We have taken our mothers and bubs group here and the staff were so accommodating, with all bubs in high chairs and the storage of our prams! Highly recommended.

A fantastic little place right on the highway. Can be very busy but always get great service and a delicious coffee and snack. Not a bad word to be said here.

As we drove on the way to Phillip Island I was delighted to see all the signs advertising Caldermeade including references to milkshakes (I was thirsty) and the animal farm (what fun I imagined!). Arriving there it looked interesting and a great set up as in the rain we approached the animal farm. I'm still not sure if we were meant to ask the staff about this first or head out there on our own, either way nobody was there to greet us and we didn't feel comfortable going in with the animals on our own. I would have asked but inside it was very busy, a lot more so than I would have expected.

Fun range of local and other foods and gifts which I had an enjoyable few minutes of looking through then it was time to order something for lunch. I tried an omelette which was massive and had very little taste. Something about 1/3rd of the size and tastier would have been so much better and my milkshake wasn't that good either as far as milkshakes go. Still the idea is good and it was fun to try

A really great place to go for a special breakfast out or on the way to Phillip Island. I love their milkshakes....Blue Heaven and Hazlenut are just sublime....And their eggs on toast are cooked perfectly...And also love the little animal farms...A perfect place to take the kids on a day trip...

We stopped in to Caldermeade on our way to Phillip Island, hoping to enjoy some fresh milkshakes.
We were tempted by the food so we made our purchases, however the prices were very steep. Between 4 of us, we spent $85 on food to takeaway (4 milkshakes, a toasted cheese & ham sandwich, a quiche, a steak pie and another pie. Very expensive food.
Was disappointed with the service as a whole. While we were waiting for our food it appeared that the people cooking out the back weren't too happy about us ordering takeaway.
In terms of the food, the chips which came with the pies were high quality.
The milkshakes were OK, although the banana flavoured one didn't use real bananas which disappointed us.
Next time we'll stop off at the bakery down the road and pay $30 between us all for a shake and meat pie.

Approximate cost: $85

Great food at good prices, licensed with good local wines as well as usual beers and premixers, lovely settings and children's petting animals. Dogs on leads welcome. Open 7 days. Milking Demonstrations (working farm).

Approximate cost: $20
