The good thing about this service is that it is available. However the level of service I received was unimpressive from the receptionist to the doctor I saw. I rang to get treatment for an UTI because I'd only just moved to Canberra and was not registered with a GP practice. The CALMS receptionist did not give me any indication of the opening hours and when I arrived early was curt and unhelpful to say the least. The physician did not do the necessary urine test before prescribing an antibiotic.

Usually very good at getting you an appointment, however more expensive than the GP but still refundable through medicare.

My husband and I have used this service on a number of occasions over the past 5 years and have been very impressed with all of the doctors that we have seen there. We have always been able to get an appointment (it is an after hours service only). After you get your money back from Medicare it is no more expensive than going to a regular GP.
