The Castle Hill RSL Cricket Club (CHRSLCC) has a long, proud history in the Hills District, having played their first match way back in 1858.
CHRSLCC aims to promote the opportunity for as many people as possible to play the great game and to provide an opportunity regardless of age or skill to enjoy the spirit of community flowing from a team game.
The CHRSLCC is a dynamic community sporting club servicing the growing North West Hills district.
CHRSLCC is a major club in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hills District Cricket Association (HKHDCA) and believes it has a commitment to the community to foster the development of youth in the district.
CHRSLCC is a family focussed club where players enjoy the game with their mates, it is not focussed on winning at all costs. The club is particularly proud of its Girls Cricket teams.
The club has been aligned with the Castle Hill RSL for the last 15 years. Junior players become members of the CHRSL Youth Club and Senior players become members of the RSL. Like the RSL the commitment to community has seen the CHRSLCC through In2Cricket (formerly Have-A-Go) which introduces children as young as four to the basics of the game through fun activities, through to Juniors who until the age of 16 play in ungraded teams.
Juniors are provided with learning opportunities embracing all skill areas, ensuring the whole team is involved, individual skills area learnt and practiced.
Progression is provided from the Junior U15 & U16 grades into the Senior teams. Seniors cricket provides the opportunity for those wishing to take a very serious involvement at A Grade level, which is played on turf, to those seeking the social benefits of a friendly Saturday afternoon game followed by a few drinks at the RSL.
Juniors have the opportunity to aim for the A Grade competition played on turf or play with their mates in the B, C or D Grade teams.
The club is rightly proud of its recognition as friendly club, where everyone is welcome regardless of their skill level, and the game is played with respect for the Spirit of Cricket, the rules, team mates and the opposition.
In achieving these aims, the club is supported by numerous volunteers who give their time and energy to teach and mentor junior players.
The volunteers fill the roles of coaches, managers and scorers. These volunteers are mums, dads, family members or older players helping out. All volunteers have a deep seated love and respect for the game and many have a playing history.
Team coaches usually have some cricket/coaching experience and the club tries to support them by funding the Development Level 1 Coaching Qualification. These individuals are vital to the future of the Castle Hill RSL Cricket Club.
The club is managed by a Committee comprised by volunteers and more are welcome!
