I never thought I would find such high quality food and a high quality experience as I did at the Clayton Bowls Club and Champions Bistro.
To use the word 'bistro' is definitely misguided. It is a restaurant. From the quality of the service, surrounds and food plates.
The food is amazing from all perspectives - quality of ingredients, quality of execution, quality of thought and inspiration etc.
I went for an event, and tasted delights such as
Smoked duck breast with blueberries & mustard
Aged pigeon breast, parsnip, smoked chocolate & fresh coconut
Perfectly cooked Monkfish with freshly shelled peas, jamon & a garlic foam
Slow Cooked Pork Jowl with Spiced Cherries
Mandarin, vanilla cheese cake, mandarin curd & sherbert
Deconstructed Violet Crumble on a plate
It is not cheap, but no where near the cost of inner city/CBD fine dining restaurants, and it definitely punches to that level.
Go with a group of people so that you can taste a bit of everything. Repeat visits would be highly worthwhile though I think...
