Here are some of the reasons why I'm rating this business as one star.
The grounds are stunning and the caretakers are very nice, however it's the wedding planning where it completely falls apart.

1. We were charged for additional guests that weren’t at the wedding. They weren’t in the final numbers, in the invites or in anything else. According to Chapel Hill’s “headcount” there were additional people, however I did not see anyone that wasn’t invited and can provide a seating chart as proof of numbers.
2. Several tables did not get alternating main meals and got the vegetable filo parcel. This was disappointing as we were promised alternating meals.
3. The field mushrooms were cut in half, rather than being a full mushroom like at the tasting, which looked much better.
4. A number of the field mushroom entrees did not have any goats cheese on them (unlike at the tasting).
5. The caretaker was very upset that she didn't know that it was a garden wedding when my wife arrived, which added unnecessary stress on the day. This could have easily been avoided by some communication.
6. I believe that the extension went until 11pm (by which time staff had already started packing up) and not 11:30pm.
7. The $75 taste testing included one desert that was purely tinned peaches with crushed nuts on top. This is completely out of proportion to what can realistically be expected for this amount of money.

As a wedding videographer I strongly recommend this as a wedding venue and as a destination for the location photo/video shoot. I produced a wedding video in December 2010, here is a sneak preview. You will see half way thru and towards then some awesome shot of Chapel Hill Retreat. Amazing place. If you are after something special, this is the place! - http://www.vimeo.com/17949208

As a wedding videographer I see the good and the bad. Teresa and Donald run Chapel Hill Retreat with a passion. The gardens are like walking through a botanical garden and the chapel, while small, is a very special place. Non Denominational.
