Pleasing to the eye but that is about where the pleasing ends.
Went to this place expecting some lovely chocolate delights but unfortunately they fell short by way of service and quality of food.
My friend and I ordered the waffles, molten lava truffle cake and 2 hot chocolates.
Firstly, we waited over 10 mins to be served menus when we were the second table in the whole place. Once we ordered, the waitress had no idea what was served with the waffles special. Really? Shouldn't this be basic knowledge if it is one of your most popular dishes?!?!
Ok.. now for the quality of food after waiting over 30 minutes for waffles and a reheated cake:
The waffles tasted eggy and seemed like something a 5 year old could make. The molten lava truffle cake was not molten inside - must have overheated it and it was dried inside - very disappointing. For a place that calls themselves "Chocolate Pavilion" they really don't use any good quality chocolate to warrant the prices they charge.
Hot chocolates - had a strange oily film on the top that was displeasing.

Disappointing and will not be back. I am guessing a lot of guests will not be back either.

Approximate cost: $14

A work friend of mine has been talking about Chocolate Pavilion for months, and I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about for the longest time, so we (work people) decided to visit for afternoon tea there before school went back this week.
Essentially it is a coffee shop that really focused on chocolate products. They have about 2 pages of hot chocolate drinks to choose from. Almost too overwhelming to make a selection. Luckily there was quite a big group of us so we kind of all selected different food and drink options and then shared them around the table so everyone tried everything they were interested in. Definitely the best approach to this place.
I can absolutely recommend the Strawberry Pancakes and the Macadamia Brownie. Completely delicious.
The beauty of this particular place over other "chocolate cafe's" that I have visited is that it isn't overly busy. This isn't a sign that it is poor quality, because I really don't think it is, just lucky perhaps? No 45 minute wait for a seat here.
The one issue is that the staff, at least those who we interacted with, seem quite confused. Our order confused them, paying separately confused them, all in all a bit of a mess. We ordered our food and asked for water for the table. The food arrived about 10 minutes later. The water (surely the easiest bit???) arrived about 15 minutes after the food. I find this slightly odd. That said, everyone was very lovely.
One warning though - if you are there with friends for a chat and a catch up, be careful. Westfield Carindale charges for parking. The first 3 hours are free, but after that there is a cost, so if you really get relaxed and enjoy your food and talk a bit too much, you can get stuck with a bit of a parking fee. Nothing too great, like under $5 for a couple hours over, but something to be aware of anyway.

I love going to Max Brenner and Pancake Manor but they are not conveniently close to my house. I think Cholcolate Pavilion could become a firm favourite. Thanks fory our review!
