I was exploring purchasing a driving simulator setup for my teenage son and came across Clutch Kick in a shopping centre. I do not doubt these chaps know their stuff, but even though I indicated a budget of $2~5k, the service staff was pushing a $35k setup. He even asked my son, who was building his own PC to return all the components ordered because "AMD chips are not suitable for simulators". As the advice was not relevant to my requirements, I did not pursue the matter further.

I subsequently put together a setup for $2.5k that was a good value and suited my son. A few weeks later I brought my son back for a driving sim session at Clutch Kick stall. Their service staff recognised me and was extremely upset I did not purchase from them. While I can understand the disappointment given they had pushed a $35k setup, what happened next was unacceptable.

The service staff then tried to charge me twice for my son's session and became aggressive when I said I had already paid. I did not see any point having a public confrontation so walked away.

At some stage in the future I will probably upgrade my son's simulator to a much more expensive setup. It was certainly in the back my mind, and I definitely won't be purchasing from Clutch Kick, but their competitor, whom their service staff named.

By all means go to to these guys as technically they are competent, as will be a lot of others in the same business. But beware of their oversell and emphasise your budget very clearly upfront. And be prepared for consequences if you don't buy from them after they "invested" time marketing to you.
