I used Corden to transport 2 cars from Brisbane to Perth this month. The cars arrived in good condition and in the timeframe specified by the company. The cost was $1470 per car.

I want to comment on a few things. Our first car, was delivered to the brisbane depot a few days before the second due to work commitments. I was therefore able to see our first car loaded ready for transport. I was surprised to see the car on a flatbed trailer loaded onto tyres for support. There were other goods on palates next to it. I enquired how they load the cars and I was told they are lifted on with an extended reach forklift. From an engineering perspective fills me with a great deal of concern. Nonetheless I allowed them to load and transport our second car. We collected both from the Perth depot 6 days later. I discussed the loading arrangement with the Perth foreman. He said they transport >300 cars this way per year and that fork lifting the cars is 'perfectly safe if you know what you are doing'. I would reckon that if they knew what they were doing, they wouldn't be using a forklift to move cars on and off their trucks. It's only a matter of time before someone's car is badly damaged. Needless to say their website doesn't lead you to believe this is the way your car will be looked after.

That brings me to the second point. The wing mirror on one of the cars was hanging off when we collected it in Perth. In fairness to Corden, the damage was, unbeknown to us, pre-existing. However for 5 minutes as I complained bitterly about the damage, I was offered nothing but blank faces and dubious phrases such as 'we take your keys... but you keep the responsibility'. As a word of warning, if they damage your car they won't help you. It clearly states on your receipt that goods are not insured and therefore they won't take any liability. Incidentally our insurance companies won't cover for loading and off loading, a risky situation given all this forklifting.

I don't recommend Cordon for car transportation. I accept our cars arrived as promised in a condition we were ultimately happy with. The business has haphazard operational procedures and their staff (other than a couple of girls at the Perth depot) seem dull, uninterested and possibly stupid.

My best advice is to sell your car if you are moving interstate or research hard and use another company.

Corden Transport is a dreadful business, run by a very rude, crass individual. The customer service is beyond poor, and how you are spoken to as a customer is appalling. I would not recommend this business to anyone. Its cheap and nasty.

Approximate cost: $1000
