We came back to celebrate a friends birthday. We were highly impressed with the food and quality. The food has so much flavour and spice which made everyone's day. The quality and quantity was very good and worth the price. The staff were very helpful and polite as well as hard working. It's one of the best places I've been too and we will continue coming here. Highly impressed. The Indian food is sooo good.

Fabulist indian food and service. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Curry Star's fare and wonderful service.

The new proprietors are serving authentic tasty food from a variety of Indian regions and to suit all palates.
We were their early on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was quite full by around 7.00pm, so word is spreading about the terrific food and good service on offer at Curry Star.

Vegetarian and seafood options are extensive, as well as the classic beef and lamb.

I am looking forward to trying their black lentil daal and something from the tandoor on my next visit!

What's more they offer a S10 lunch including a glass of wine, so it will not be long before I return.

We went for dinner with a two for one shopper docket voucher and were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped into the restaurant.

The ambience is excellent and Curry Star is located in a gem of an historic building. The decor is contemporary, but sympathetic to the building.

We enjoyed a mixed vegetarian entree platter, Goan fish curry and a Goan paneer curry, along with saffron rice, garlic naan and raita.
Everything was truly fabulous and very authentic. At least as good as any of my favourite Melbourne or London curry houses!

We took our own wine and were charged a $2.00 corkage fee,
We also enjoyed a masala tea to round off our meal.

The new proprietor has also opened an extensive and reasonably priced Indian supermarket at the rear of the building.

I urge people to make the effort to head to Dana Street, seek out Curry Star and enjoy their extensive selection of beautifully prepared Indian delights!
Perfect for a catch up with friends, or work function and with suitable ambience and atmosphere for a romantic dinner for two.
Function rooms are available for special occasions and meetings.
Highly recommended!

Best indian food in Ballarat!. Had a banquent on Friday night, and my friends and I were very impressed!

Every dish was delicious, and by far the best Indian food I have had in Ballarat. The service was great, and the waitresses were lovely and helpful. Goldy was a magnificent host! He is passionate about food and provides an amazing service!

Curry Star has quickly grown to be one of our favourites. The staff are attentive and show great delight in talking to people who aren't looking for "Aussie hot" food. Our entrées were plentiful and quick. The mains covered the table for three people. Each dish was, admittedly, mildly spiced although they had offered to ramp up the heat. We were well looked after and they even packaged up what we couldn't eat. Definitely worth the try as they have definitely settled into their niche; even replacing a Melbourne favourite.

I have been going here for years. I usually ate here once to 4 times a month. The last 6 months i have begun to have regular problems with them. Every second takeaway dish would leak about 1/6 th of its sauce through to the takeaway bag. This was frustrating but I dealt with it. I order a special dish so the price often changed, this whilst not ideal, did not bother me a lot. They occasionally got my order wrong but I dealt with it because it is very tasty. They also dont listen when I say not to use paypass when I am paying, and have just done it anyway twice.

2 weeks ago I ordered my usual (I get it EVERY time). I ordered butter chicken gravy, no meat with garlic naans as dippers. I rang the order through and because this order is frequently enough made wrong (with meat - im a vegetarian) I said 3 times, no meat, just gravy just to be certain we understood each other. I felt a bit rude repeating my order to the gentleman on the phone but I was tired of having to drive back to get it changed, although its not every time by any means, every time it happens, it frustrates me. He read it back correctly and told me when to pick it up. I picked it up, paid for it, got home and it was wrong AGAIN. It had chicken in it, in fact a lot of it so not much left for me to actually eat so I rang them. I spoke to the same gentleman on the phone and told him it was wrong, he did not apologise, I told him I said it 3 times and despite the fact I was still willing to be reasonable with these guys (it was my most regular take away) he hung up on me within a minute. I rang back in shock and asked him if he just hung up on me and all he had to say was , well, we do not normally do this dish like that. I then told him unless they have changed hands I had been going there for years and its all I ever get. Still no apology, or an offer of delivering out the correct dish but at least he did not hang up on me this time. he said , well, do you want to come back for another dish?

I told him I was feeling too frustrated this time to return and rang off.

I wonder why if they did not want to make it the right way, they did not tell me when I ordered it on the phone, or when i picked it up, or why they said they dont do the dish I have been getting there for years! I give up on this place.

I have since gone back to the ballarat indian restaurant in eureka st, and they are so much more polite, my meal is $4 cheaper, they discount for the lack of meat, which a lot of restaurants do when I order this any town i go to. their food also stays in the container until i get home. I will never go back there again. My friends and I go out for indian food every now and then as a group, and Im the only one who ever fought to go back to this place, despite the fact that they have all tried their food. they all have other favourite indian restaurants and now Im just another customer they have lost!

If you ever read this Curry Star and learn anything, its not to hang up on a customer who just wants what she ordered. That was so rude and unprofessional! Get your act together!

Had a fabulous meal at the Curry Star enjoyed the wonderful curries very authentic and at very reasonable prices. Premises are clean and tables beautifully presented with white linen in a renovated old building that has a lot of charm.
They also do takeaway if you prefer to eat at home but with such great service and lovely food at inexpensive prices its worth a night out with friends to enjoy the ambience.
