Restaurant with average Japanese cuisine,meal was cooked fairly fast but pretty average. Staff Was attentive but the place needs to focus a lot more on the quality of food produced.

After noticing this new place opening up recently, I decided to break out of my usual routine to give them a go.

As you walk in, you can see that they are a nice, clean looking, airy place, with everything you'd expect to see in a small Japanese restaurant. However the experience started to worsen once I got further inside. Firstly, the counter where you order is right at the back of the building, and secondly, they seem to be both over- and understaffed: the staff at the counter were rather bored, yet there was a box full of unwashed dishes behind a column in the front dining area - and nobody seemed to be maintaining the front dining area at all. They had a small "coffee lounge" area, but the coffee machine there was unmanned.

The price for the food was about what I'd expect to pay, and the kitchen didn't take long to cook my order. The tables were clean and the staff were perfectly nice. As I was eating in, they brought my food to my table once it was cooked.

The food was a disappointment though. I ordered a Katsu Don: The fried pork was very good, and the egg underneath it and the broccoli garnish were perfectly acceptable. The sauce that had been applied over the top of the Katsu was worryingly unidentifiable. The rice was really disappointing: It either was the wrong type of rice, or hadn't been cooked properly - it didn't stick together or taste like Japanese rice. In the end, this ruined the experience for me.

If not for the inattentive staff and badly executed food, Dai Fu Ku could have been a lovely Japanese restaurant.
