I ordered my wedding dress last year (2016) and was incredibly disappointed with Damsel in this Dress. I ordered my dress completely online as I’m located in NSW. I paid for my dress on 4 April and sent through my measurements on 6 April. The production time was estimated at 6-12 weeks - it took 20 weeks. My dress was posted on 24 August.

The original communication was great, they were friendly and my emails were promptly answered. After payment, this changed. Correspondence was patchy and unreliable.

It took until 13 July (9 weeks) to inform me that they hadn’t commenced work due to the lace not being in stock. After choosing a different lace I did not hear anything until 27 July - they said the dress would be finished the following week. As mentioned above, it was not posted until 24 August - almost a month later after many distressed emails, which were answered slowly or unanswered. I understand that there were problems with staff (illness) and work was put behind, but this did not excuse the poor communication and the dress being started so late in the piece.

I took the dress to a local alterations business to have it correctly fitted in person. The seamstresses commented about the dress’ workmanship being below standard, I assume this is due to the dress being rushed at the final stages once my emails became more frantic. The main comments from the seamstresses were that the neckline wasn’t symmetrical and the skirt was attached to the bodice sloppily. This meant that the skirt did not sit flat/flush to the bodice and when the shoulders were taken up (the bodice was too long) it was difficult to make the neckline symmetrical.
