Great savings on fruit, vegetables, eggs, bread, meat, fish , nuts, legumes, deli produce and other items. I do my big weekly shop here. Saves so much money
I have visited Dandenong Market quite a few times. Can get busy but lots of variety and great prices. Theres also places you can buy your lunch at. Most of the market is indoors but at the back there is a few outdoor stores.
Dandenong Market is great for fresh fruit, vegetables and produce. They also have some great bargains on clothes and shoes as well. Worth the trip
I love going to this market. It sells everything! I regularly go to get my fruit and veg and meat here. Their prices are great and quality is in line with supermarkets. The shop attendants customer service can be questionable, I think they are grumpy from the early mornings but I don't really mind
I have been visiting the Dandenong Market my whole life, and as long as I live close to the area, I will never stop;
The market has everything you could possibly need - fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood, clothes, accessories, collectables, homewares, books and magazines, and technological items. Most, if not all stalls, offer incredible value for money, which I can definitely appreciate. I love the cheap, fresh fruit and vegetables, and I love browsing all of the stalls for unique gifts and things to keep around my house - my favourite at the moment is "Crystal Wishes" which stocks a great range of natural soaps - free from not only chemicals, but animal fats, too.
Overall, not everything at the market is of the highest quality, but everything is exceptionally good value considering what you pay for it, and I love the atmosphere it creates in the community!
The market is now open on Sundays too which adds to its convenience!
I love going to the Dandenong Market. It's so0 cheap for fruit and vegies. Also other good bargains to be found. Sometimes you can pick up some great clothes on the cheap. I always get my watch batteries changed here, it's so cheap! Only about $5. Parking can be really frustrating and it can take ages to find a park so I would suggest getting there early.
I hadn't been to the Dandenong market for years and thought I would give it a go since they re did it. We went last weekend and only to buy some veggies. It was great especially being under cover everywhere! We are heading back again on Saturdays to buy our veggies and fruit!!
Had not been here for years but we went only a couple of weeks ago its certainly changed for the better lots more shops to browse and now under cover.I bought from haberdashery and was surprised how cheap they were parking is not too crash hot we parked in the street hoping not to get a fine.
I haven't been to Dandy market in years and was a bit dissapointed. It has lost some of its charisma, instead of the traditional rows of veggie stalls they tend to have mini grocer shops, there was not much in the way of general merchandise. The meat and seafood hall however was great with heaps of appealing looking fresh food. Sam's spice house was worth a visit and I spent some time there checking out his own spice mixes. Its a bit of a shame, I felt the market is now just a place to shop and has lost some of its old fashioned market appeal that it had in the past.
The Dandy market is pretty good for local produce and you can get some nice deals on clothing. I was able to haggle on shoes from $65 to $40. most stall holders are friendly and eager to serve
Approximate cost: $40
This market is great. There are a few small organic options but mostly this market is great for very cheap conventional produce. Meat is also very cheap.
I have spent many a time over the last 30 years buying from Dandenong Market, there as always been bargains to be add. Recently since the Aldi project which took a large part of the market most of the stalls left are just selling old stock and not much in the way of fabulous clothing they used to have..the fabulous atmosphere as all gone. The joy of coming out of the market laden with bags of goodies does not exist anymore. The only bargains now are cheaply priced vegetables and fruit which its a hit and miss on quality but still worth the buy. Service is still pretty good..its up to the individual if they check it out but its really a disappointment now adays smaller with most bargain buys gone now. one review mentioned its not crowded anymore 'true' but the reason a lot of customers they used to get are disappointing with the market now and don't go anymore, i loved the crowds that you had to fight through and the reason for so much space is to make the market look bigger. The only busy part you will notice now is a lot go to have lunch there and the food court is always full. Gone is the great Dandy Market
Thats really a shame about the market.
Thank you, It isn't the same since the changes and the lack of clothing bargains really makes for a disappointing visit..bargains are the fruit and vegies and having batteries changed in watches are still a good bargain ( shop booth replacement of batteries is $15-20) at the market they replace watch batteries for as low as $6 so its worth collecting a few watches together that need batteries changed before paying a visit.
The market looks fantastic! The people are friendly and the jam donuts are the best!!! Nothing beats the Dandenong Markets jam donuts! The only downside would be needs a slight clean up around the aisles, but otherwise I found it to be a great experience. (and by clean up I mean papers on walkways etc.)
Thanks for that info.
It looks much nicer since it was renovated...also it's more kids friendly and not that crowded ... they have now a special area for meat, one for nuts and spices, another for clothes, and one for fruits and veggies ... it's more organized...the prices are good, and good quality too
Since they renovated, the place is not as crowded as before. Better value than any other places for fruits and vegetables especially next to closing time when they try to get rid of as much stock as possible.
I love coming here every Saturday for the cheap food and fruit on offer here. It may be crowded but the food is so cheap that so will come back here always. There are also alot of cheap clothing stores and it really is an amazing place to shop
If you don't mind the crowds and the noisy sellers you'll love the cheap but really great produce! The continental food is great too
thanks for your comments on the Dandy market.
Very lively busy6 atmosphere. can be a bit squash at times in the fruit and veg but it is a market... the renovations have helped alot, however not sure if it was worth allllll the work. the value for money is very good. its also nice to sit in the 'food court' and have a bite. the burek is to die for!
Great Value Fruits! Amazing if you have a large family - buy by boxes. Always goes for really really cheap when you go when the market is nearly closing at around 1:30pm on Saturdays. Even the market parking is really cheap and handy when you are going back and forth to drop your cases of fruits.
Thanks for your excellent comments.
Great value prices. We buy bulk boxes for very low prices. Lots of noisy sellers and shoppers. It gets crowded on Saturdays, that is why better to shop there on Tue or Fri.
we like to go there and buy plenty of vegetables and fruit for a week. great value. there are of course some products that cost the same as in the supermarket. every time we go there it's very busy and lots of noise.
I really enjoy coming to the Dandy Market for some fresh produce. Usually it is best to get there early as the fruits and vegies are stacked for the day's sellings. There are a lot of noisy sellers but the fruits and vegs are inexpensive and you can purchase much more items compared to a place like a supermarket.
Thanks for your excellent comments
Really great value prices. You can buy bulk boxes for ridiculously cheap prices. The place tends to get pretty crowded so expect to squeeze your way around. Lots of noisy sellers and shoppers.
