I LOVE Dao Vien Restaurant. Their food is fresh and tasty and of good quality. The service is as to be expected - I'm Australian and my husband is Vietnamese so I notice that the service he gets is better than what I get! But I assume it simply comes down to the language barrier and nothing else, because the staff there always try to be friendly and polite to me but just cannot converse with me the way they do with my husband.
We regularly buy the Broken Rice dish at Dao Vien (a common Vietnamese dish). Almost every Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Springvale sell this dish, but the one at Dao Vien definitely stands out against the others. It is always cooked perfectly - not undercooked, not overcooked, perfect seasoning on the meat, prefect balance of spices/ingredients in the meat pate', and their fish sauce is nicely balanced also.
Their prices are very reasonable - that's why we buy so much take-away from them! A dish of broken rice, which includes a plate of plain rice, fried pork chop, slice of meat pate, fried egg, and a side dish of (I thinks it is) rice noodles mixed together with little strips of pork meat, costs approx. $8.00.
They also offer a good range of specialty drinks, at approx. $3.50 each.
The only negative is trying to get a park nearby the restaurant, as it is always so busy.
We don't eat in the restaurant often. It is only a very small restaurant, and not overly fancy. It is quite simple with just tables and cheap chairs, but the food makes up for the poor interior decoration!

You receive your food very quickly here and taste delicious. It's difficult that the staff members are not as friendly and parking is difficult. However, drinks menu here are great. I love the three colour drink. Must try it.

Approximate cost: $9

The staff is not very sweet however food is served quickly and the food is good for its value. If ambience and decor are important to you then steer clear but if it is all about the quality of the food then eating at this place is a must do.

Have been frequenting this place for the last 10 years now. If you like authentic Vietnamese/Chinese food, then this is the perfect place. Highly recommended are their Fried Chicken Rice, Broken Rice and their Combination on Fried Noodles (choice of soft/crispy egg noodles or rice noodle). Prices are very reasonable compared to other eating shops within that area. They have recently extended to the shop next door so seating is more comfortable now.

Approximate cost: $8-$12

Their food is alright but I especially like their crispy fried noodles. When I go there, I would always order that. I feel that they make it just right and they also put a variety of different meats and vegetables. I also think that they serve you quite a lot so sometimes, you can just share a meal between two people

Great range of Vietnamese and some Chinese dishes. Service is fast and efficient great for take away and a quick meal. Most meals taste quite good compared to other restaurants.
