This place is one of Newtown's hidden gems.
It's tucked away at the back of the Botany View Hotel, and seating is upstairs. If you've only ever been to drink at the Botany View, you might be quietly surprised at the quality of the food.
The menu offers a bit of quality pub grub ( recommend the $16 chicken breast shnitty), but is largely not your typical pub menu. The range is awesome, there's a Mediterranean theme through it, some great fish dishes and the best sticky date pudding you'll ever eat. I'm personally not a fan of paying $14 for a dessert, but the sticky date pudding is mouth watering and presented with a hard layer of toffee three times the size of the dessert, the sauce is rich but not too heavy.
There are some impressive vegetarian options as well, I recommend trying everything on the menu once, you won't be disappointed with the quality.

Approximate cost: $20

It is hard to choose from the many dishes on offer....steak, braised beef shoulder, corned beef, pork belly, duck....it is a substantial menu. You can choose to sit inside, where there are a couple of large communal tables and several smaller tables, or you can head outside into the courtyard.

Approximate cost: $15
