The SMSF administration, accounting and investment service
The combination of an administration and accounting service with investment advice has made the management of my SMSF very easy. Knowing that all of the administrative and regulatory requirements are being capably managed and all relevant investment opportunities are being advised in a timely manner gives me great peace of mind. It allows me to spend my time on more enjoyable pursuits in retirement.
My Account Manager and Investment Advisor have been working with me for some years now, and I believe we are a good team. They have both always been readily accessible to answer any questions that I may have had.
The Account Manager has patiently answered dozens of questions for me over the years. A year ago we decided that a corporate trusteeship gave better control and flexibility in the management of my SMSF than having individual trustees, and so the change was made. All of the administrative details were handled by the Account Manager.
Similarly, the Investment Advisor has been very conscientious and reliable in keeping me informed about all potential opportunities that he considers may be of interest. He secures the best available interest rates on my cash investments. He provides a well-documented and comprehensive annual portfolio review in which valuable ideas are presented.
Being a Silver Service client has been a good choice for my investment style, which is a rather passive one. I am not overly concerned with market volatility, and rely heavily on the relative consistency of SMSF earnings across the asset classes, even though the asset prices may sometimes be rather volatile (particularly the equities component).
As an investor I rely more on the taxation advantages of an SMSF in pension phase to give me an “edge” over the years, rather than monitoring trends and trying to time market reaction to fundamentals. So far I have found that staying in the market has been quite rewarding.
The myDixon web app
The MyDixon web app has been a great addition to the SMSF management service offered by Dixon Advisory. It is a very user-friendly tool that enables instant and reliable access to the current and past values of all asset holdings and earnings, including franking credits. It facilitates useful and interesting comparisons over time of the performance of all asset classes and individual investments that are held in the portfolio. For an active investor it allows the regular “marking to market “, or valuation, of investment positions, and enables the monitoring of trends across investments and asset classes. I find that the app is extremely useful and easy to use. A more active investor would find it even more useful.
