I had been having a whooshing sound in my left ear, and my left eye was swollen for well over a year. I was misdiagnosed at a different ear clinic to be suffering from tinnitus and for the eye, an eye specialist also got it wrong and said it was an inflammation.

My GP referred me to Dr McKendrick at St John of God Murdoch, and after a quick, but thorough assessment, he said I needed to get scans because I was having a blood leak in my brain. Turns out he was right! He referred me to the amazing neurology team at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and I had surgery in February this year to stop the leak.

I have been seeing McKendric for over 10 years. I have seen other ENTs but he is by far the best. He has always looked after me and never done any unnecessary surgery. I have had tonsils out, limpfoylds burnt off throat, ear scrape & Adenoids removed. Highly recommend him.

I went to Dr Mackendrick to have my nose straightened and my nostrils evened out as one nostril hole was very narrow and the other very large due to a deviated septum caused by a previous accident. I do a lot of grinding for work and due to my nose not being straight, safety glasses did not sit evenly on my face, leaving a gap between the glasses and the right hand side of my face. I previously had a piece of metal embedded in my eye whilst grinding which made its way through this gap. Once this happened I thought I should get my nose straightened and decided to see an ENT surgeon. I explained this to Dr Mckendrick on my initial consultation and he said no problem we will even out your nostrils and get a 'good aesthetic finish'. My nose is still not straight and over 12 months later I still have numb front teeth, a weird feeling in my nose and I can feel a 'chunk' out of one nostril-it is not completely round. It is also difficult to blow snot out of my nose- almost as if the nostrils have been opened up too much and there is not enough air pressure behind it when I blow it. I am disappointed with the results and wish I had seen a different surgeon. I recommend you do not see this doctor.
