Thanks to others on this site for your reviews, it led me to book with Dr Ades and his wonderful team. I underwent a uterine polyp removal, and found Dr Ades to possess that great combination of exceptional skills as a doctor as well as a comforting bedside manner. I was able to have the procedure done under local anaesthetic (instead of general anaesthetic). I walked out of hospital after a 15 minute procedure which was done in a caring and sensitive environment, and drove home and continued with everyday life. Dr Ades is a wonderful mix of professionalism, skill and experience, and a warm and caring nature. If I need gynaecological surgery in the future I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Dr Ades, he's a credit to his profession.

Lovely bedside manner, brilliant surgeon, I couldn't be happier with having found him to help me address my issues of very heavy bleeding due to my fibroid.

He is very intelligent, explains thing in a very easy to understand way and is truly delightful to deal with. Highly recommended.

Dr Ades saved me from having a hysterectomy and I can't thank him enough. It had been recommended that I had my uterus removed because of a fibroid that was causing very heavy bleeding. I was passing big clots every month and my iron levels were low.
I saw Dr Ades for a second opinion and he told me that the fibroid was poking inside the uterus and that he could get it out with cutting me. From what I could understand, he inserted a camera inside the uterus through my cervix and took the fibroid out in small pieces with a special instrument. I woke up feeling no pain and was back to work the following day. I bled for a few weeks and then it completely stopped. My next period was normal and I couldn't believe it. 4 months later I had an ultrasound that confirmed the fibroid is gone.

Hi. I am sorry, I don't come this website often and only saw your comment now. I am not sure a reply is still relevant, but my fibroid was 3.5 cm and towards the inside of the uterus. If your fibroid is bigger, I believe you can still have just the fibroid removed to preserve the uterus but you may need a laparoscopy. If you haven't spoken to Dr Ades yet, do so. I am sure he will explain everything to you.

Absolutely brilliantly talented surgeon. Having seen a specialist surgeon for a severe reaction to a minor procedure, and finding the cost of my hysterectomy with this specialist prohibitive, I visited a number of gynies who refused to have anything to do with me, yet I needed the hysterectomy. What were these other gynies afraid of, I wonder? Complications had been identified or ruled out yet I was deemed too obese for laproscopic surgery, and told to retire have open surgery and take 3 months to recover. Dr Ades took on the job. Surprised me with the recovery time and lack of pain. Felt I could have returned to desk job after 2 weeks. Just shows. Don't give up the search. Will recommend him and his team to anyone. He has a great anaethetist too!!! and a very caring team.

I am not usually one to write online reviews and being a bloke never in my wildest dreams thought I would write about a gynaecologist!! Seeing the way Dr Ades looked after my wife and how hard it was to find someone like him, I found this website and decided to write a couple of lines. Great doctor, great surgeon and a real gentleman.

Dr Ades was the third gynaecologist I saw and before meeting him I didn't even know that I could have a hysterectomy and go home the following day. He spent more time with me during the first consultation than my GP and the other two specialists combined. I also learned about alternative options to reduce my bleeding like burning the lining of the uterus and removing just the fibroids and not the whole uterus. In the end I did have a hysterectomy through keyhole surgery. I was able to keep my ovaries and I went home on the day after my operation. After three weeks I was back at work as he said I would be. I can't fault Dr Ades in anyway. It is not only his ability and knowledge, but also his bedside manner, his beautiful consulting rooms and the attention I received from his staff.

I thought that having a hysterectomy would be the worst thing that ever happened to me, until I met Dr Ades. Firstly, he spent a lot of time explaining everything to me and going through all the alternatives and different options. He never pushed me and we only booked the operation after a couple of meetings when I was convinced that it was the right thing for me. He did the whole operation through three tiny keyhole incisions, I was home the following day and only took painkillers for ten days. It's four weeks since the operation now, I am back to work and pretty much having a normal life. Best of all, the horrible pain and bleeding I used to have are gone. His staff was also flawless and very supportive.

I had to have an operation and I was extremely happy with the way Dr Alex Ades and his team looked after me. Despite his reputation and qualifications, he is not arrogant or impatient. He is gentle and has a sense of humour. There was no question left unanswered. I had an excellent outcome and couldn't believe how quickly I was back to work with minimal pain. I hope I never have to go to hospital again, but if I did I wouldn't think twice before seeing Dr Ades again.

I want to thank the women who wrote reviews about Dr Ades. Reading your comments helped me decide to go see him and it was the best thing I could have done. I had been dealing with bad period pain for many years until my GP suggested I could have endometriosis. Dr Ades was the third specialist I saw and the difference between him and the others was chalk and cheese. Now I know what people meant by a doctor who is an excellent and experienced surgeon and who also actually cares. When I decided to have surgery I knew exactly what to expect and I knew that I had explored all the other options. I few weeks later, I can finally control my pain and live a more normal life. Thank you Dr Ades and your team for the amazing care.

My exeperience with Dr Alex Ades was awesome. It was my first operation ever and I was scared, but Dr Alex had made my experience a comfortable one. He helped me understand my health issues, clarified all my concerns in detail and in a very professional and caring manner before and after surgery. Even months after surgery if I have any concerns, he is always available to respond my emails. He would provide advise as a doctor as well as a friend helping you to make right decisions at right time. Dr Alex is indeed a rare combination of excellent skills and experience with beautiful bedside manner. I am absolutely grateful for finding him and I have no hesitation to recommend him, he is indeed the most empathetic doctor I have ever met.

My experience with Dr Ades and his team (Connie) has been superb. Dr Ades is a wonderful doctor, answering all my questions (there were many!) in a kind, sensitive and professional manner. Throughout my procedure (from initial consult, the operation for the treatment of endometriosis and post-operative care) Dr Ades made me feel at ease, never rushing me or my family. For the first time in over 20 years I have pain free periods, I am so grateful to Dr Ades. I will continue to recommend Dr Ades to all my friends/family/colleagues.

Dr Ades was recommended to me by a friend who works as a nurse at Frances Perry House surgical theatres and is familiar with his work. He was excellent all the way from talking to me and my partner beforehand through to performing the operation and looking after me afterwards. I strongly recommend him.

Beyond being a skilled surgeon I can say without hesitation that Dr Ades is the most empathetic doctor I have ever been treated by. He is able to think "outside of the box" and has a sincere respect for his patients. I have a complex medical history with a high risk of surgical complications. Dr Ades took an extensive amount of time to understand my medical requirements - resulting in a brilliant outcome that I would not have imagined possible. He has also been wonderful at answering a multitude of emails both before and after my surgery. I totally recommend Dr Ades for his caring personality, thoughtful intelligence and medical skills.

I was referred to Dr Ades because of his expertise with Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage. I had a lot of trouble with my previous pregnancies and was losing hope of having a term pregnancy until I heard about this operation. I flew from Sydney to Melbourne to have surgery and it was the best thing I could have done. Dr Ades staff was extremely helpful with bookings appointments, admission to hospital, etc to suit my flights and accommodation. Dr Ades is very approchable and always seemed to find time in his busy schedule to answer my questions and address my concerns. He has a balanced and objective approach to facts and is very good at explaining medical terminology. The surgery couldn't have gone better. I went back to the hotel a few hours after the procedure. The following day all I needed was Panadol for pain relief and 3 days later I was flying back to Sydney. I am very grateful for everything Dr Ades did for me and I am looking forward to falling pregnant again.

I had a really good experience with Dr Ades. My GP had suggested I had a hysterectomy because my periods were becoming very heavy and I was not able to manage them with the medication he prescribed . Dr Ades showed me a few different options and in the end I had a procedure called an endometrial ablation. This was done as a day procedure, I hardly felt anything and was home a few hours later. After three months my periods are down to one or two days of a very light spotting and I no longer need a hysterectomy. I really liked Dr Ades' down to earth approach to things and the way he explained everything in detail. I felt that I understood what was happening to me and that I was able to have a say about my treatment. He did charge me an out of pocket fee, but it wasn't much and it was worth every cent.

Dr Ades is a rare combination of excellent skills and experience with beautiful bedside manner. I had to have a hysterectomy and my doctor wanted to do it the traditional way using a caesarean section type incision. Dr Ades did a laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) and all I had were 4 tiny cuts. I was home the following day and back to work in ten days. All through the process I felt incredibly looked after. I am recommending him to all my friends.
