This gent, although pleasant and may be a bit odd, practices conveyor belt medicine: quick in, quick out - time is money I suppose. Through an admin error he saw me without a referral and blood tests and decided to conduct a scoped investigation. However, his history taking was incomplete and his subsequent review of my scope results was cursory at best. He failed to note the referral request, when he did eventually read it, which asked him for onward management of my case. Instead, he returned me to my GP with the scope results and no consideration of differential diagnoses, or recommendations (regarding his specialist area) . Disappointing all round.
I found him strange as he never answered my direct questions. Bedside manner was non-existence. I greeted him pre-surgery as they rolled me in and he totally ignored my hello, then in recovery when everyone else's Doctors spoke to them to give an update... Dr Thomson never visited me. Then 2 days later his surgery rang me and asked if I had "no showed" in hospital as he didn't remember me...OMG. I then chased my results for 3 weeks as his office had no record of my records numerous times. Chose another specialist.
Approximate cost: $350
This dotor is a specialist is Gastroentology, he is very through in his management of illnesses and ensures all tests completed are necessary. He has a good bedside manner.
