Dr Darcy J Economos (ENT)

Lovely reception staff! Had to reschedule two appointments for my son due to sickness and work commitments and they were so accommodating and understanding.
Dr Econamos was on time both times we have been, was very knowledgeable and great with my 5 year old son!
Highly recommend him.

In short the doctor seemed good but high billing without warning, having to pay $400 on the spot and the second receptionist being told to "not say another word" left me feeling mistreated.

I found this doctor to be good and agree with the other 2 comments.

The reason for only one star was the way billing was handled.

The receptionist nor the doctor told me there would be a $400 bill that must be settled before leaving.
I feel this should have been noted either on arival or before the procedure took place.

On coming out from the consult the receptionist asked if the doctor had put a camera down the nose. To bill for this the doctor should have told the receptionist.

Then proceded to demand payment of $400. Another receptionist tried to say something and the one billing me held a finger up and told her to "not say another word"
Only when i asked about medicare rebate was i told yes there would be one but of unknown amount.

I lost my job days ago because of a workplace injury that the company refuses to acknowledge, am 17 weeks pregnant and now after rebate have a $214 credit card bill that i have no way of paying off.

Since paying I found out that legally you can not be forced to settle a bill that day. A patient should be allowed 14 days to get the sum together.

I had asked if I could pay next week and was told it had to be today.

Also the 3 patients previous had been bulk billed.

I just had surgery a few days ago. Dr Economous was a well educated and knowledgeable doctor who was straight to the point and didnt lead you with false hope like so many others do. Highly recommended

Dr Economos is a very good ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) specialist. I found him to be professional and thorough, and didnt 'beat around the bush'. I ended up needing my tonsils removed as they were in terrible shape. From my initial consult, to pre-op, the surgery and post-op appointments, he was great. I had a couple issues regarding medication after the surgery once I was home, and he was easy to contact after hours on his mobile and made you feel like you were his top priority.
