Earworx is dedicated to safely and effectively removing impacted ear wax using curettage and micro-suction techniques. Founded in 2016 by Lisa Hellwege in Tasmania, Earworx has since grown and established clinics across Australia, including in Kingston, Canberra, operating in partnership with Wentworth Avenue Family Practice.
Lisa saw that there was a gap in the medical services market in regard to professional ear wax removal that was safe and effective. This is why she began Earworx, which is aimed at helping patients have better quality of life through removing and preventing ear wax build-up and generally supporting ear health.
When you visit an Earworx clinic, you can rest assured you are in safe hands. At Earworx Wentworth Avenue, you will be taken care of by Jade Miles. Jade is a registered nurse whose previous experience includes treating and caring for aging and dementia patients, as well as care planning and general nursing. Having completed a comprehensive block of formal training in micro-suction and aural hygiene, Jade is passionate about treating her patients with kindness and generosity, helping to relieve them of the burden of blocked ears.
Micro-suction, which is the technique used at Earworx, is endorsed by ENT specialists as the most effective and safest method to remove built-up earwax. The process involves a catheter which is attached to a suction tube being inserted into the ear and gently sucking out the wax, much like a vacuum cleaner. Jade, who will perform the process, will also maintain vision with the ear canal and eardrum with special binoculars fitted with a bright light, called loupes, to ensure safety.
Unlike wet wax removal techniques like syringing, micro-suction is a dry technique which is suitable for people with perforated eardrums, people who take blood thinners, people who have undergone ear surgery and diabetics.
Wax build-up and impaction can be caused by a variety of factors, including age, genetics, working in a dusty environment, suffering from skin conditions like dermatitis or psoriasis, or inserting objects like earbuds into your ears. People who regularly wear earbuds, ear plugs or hearing aids are also more likely to experience wax impaction as the natural self-cleaning process is blocked and wax is unable to leave the ears.
To be relieved of the annoyance and debilitation of a blocked ear, visit Earworx for safe and efficient ear wax removal.
