A good and comfy little place. Possibly the only place to get good coffee in Box Hill, and the only European food style cafe in Box Hill (not that that is bad- Box Hill is awesome for Asian food!). Good service. Very homey... I always enjoy this little cafe. Especially with some live music on a Sunday

Approximate cost: $8-$15

The food, the friendly, welcoming service and the fact that you don't even feel like you're in Box Hill are some of the many great things about this place.

My Boyfriend and I dine there about once every three or so months, and the owner always remembers us and loves to sit down with us (when he has a spare moment) and have a nice chat. On some occasions he has topped up our wine glasses free of charge.

My favorite meal is the pumpkin and spinach gnocchi. The brushcetta (however you spell it) is amazing!

went there for drinks one night with my mate and was appalled by their service. ordered a cup of tea and coffee. the tea leaves (apparently T2) given were not even enough for the amount of hot water in the glass! the coffee was ok. after sitting down for 10 minutes the waitress shoved the bill on our table and started packing up the chairs beside us. i thought that was quite rude as they did not mention they were closing when we asked them if we could order the drinks. this was 9:15pm on a friday night.

tight ass going to a restraunt buyinga cup of tea and wanting them too stay open all night till you finish it with granny like homo sips. i just went there for dinner with my extended family for a birthday and found the place to be fantastic the food and service was top notch. i would go there again not a bother(MAYBE NOT JUST FOR A SPECIALISED TEA)

i disagree with shannonw. even a restaurant should be able to serve a decent cup of tea! not much is involved. so what if i only ordered a coke and sat there for an hour. i am still a paying customer! all customers should be treated equal regardless of what they ordered. after all, it was a friday night and opening late on a weekend shouldn't be a big deal. asking us to pay the bill after 10 minutes is just lame (especially when we told them we were going to be ordering just drinks.). try drinking a cup of tea in 10 minutes (no wonder the water was lukewarm)! you guys can go there but i certainly am not. there are far better places to go to in box hill. ones that value their customers.

Engine Shed is a great place to eat, with very friendly staff, with friends the venue can be casual, but I've also had formal events there - just ask the staff and you can book out the top floor! Great for a work party etc.

We have been to the Engine Shed Cafe several times now and each time enjoy the varied food menu, good friendly service and prices are very affordable. The venue isn't large but there is an outside area as well.

They do lunches, dinners and have a bar. Very nice place to sit and have a coffee which is unusual for Box Hill. I often go here for my lunch breaks and they serve very nice meals. The coffee is of very good quality and i recomend it to everyone and anyone
