I've been taking groups of children here for many years and every time without fail, it's a great experience.

It's set in a beautiful parkland area where there are BBQ's and a giant slide up the hill as well as other playground equipment so before or after your Traffic School visit, you can make a day of it here with lunch.

It is a totally safe environment, being entirely fenced. Once the children are inside it's like their own little world. There is a network of roads just like in the "real" world, but all child-sized. Likewise the traffic lights, pedestrian crossing, railway crossing, intersections, school crossing, roundabouts - it's a very unique place designed for children to practise their road safety knowledge in a hands-on but safe situation.

It's so funny to see them not being able to keep on their side of the road - thank goodness the "collisions" here are very minor. And Mum can get to be the "Lollypop" person and stop traffic with her whistle on the School Crossing.

There is a huge shed of bikes for all sizes and ages and helmets also, but you can take your own too. Recommended ages are 3 to 10 years. There are trikes for the smaller children, then 2 wheelers with training wheels and also without.

There is a shed with tea and coffee for adults and a basic toilet block (this could be improved).

There is also a lovely old W class tram to look inside.

If you go to an Education session, a staff member, Kirsty will give you a talk and show you around. But anyone can go on weekends and they are available for very fun and excitingly different birthday parties on weekday afternoons and on weekends.

Bookings are through Moonee Valley Council and they are very good with their communication.

Saturdays - 10.00 - 12.00 is $6 per child. Don't go if it's too crowded though, cause a lot of children riding bikes around of varying degrees of skill can be hectic.

Private hire after 3.30 weekdays and also on Saturdays and Sundays for parties and other private functions can be between $160 - $200. You can book 4 months in advance, but allow at least a few weeks notice.

It's a great place and fun for adults too.

Approximate cost: $Open session - $6 per child.

A great concept. It teaches children simple road safety while they ride their bikes on a series of roads with traffic lights- basically a life size mini suburb. It is only $5 entry, I take my little sister all the time and she has an absolute ball.

Approximate cost: $5
