This small market is held every Sunday in the Melville Street car park from 9am. It contains stalls which have some of the best locally grown/produced vegetables, fruits, wine, cheese, jams, honey, cakes, ice cream...it is a gourmet's heaven!
All the food has to be fresh/seasonal, local, and sold by the people who grow or made the produce.
The fresh produce stalls have a lot to choose from, even in winter, but you need to get there early.
One of my favourite stalls is the Grandvewe Cheese stall, where large wheels of cheese are on display, and from which samples are happily cut by the stallholder for you to try. The swiss cheese and Bavarian cheese are sensational.
The Viridian wine stall is also worth a visit - it promotes itself as a sustainable vineyard where the grapes are handpicked. You can sample the wines - I tried their unwooded Chardonnay the other day, then had to buy a bottle! The stallholder, Lyn, was very informative about the wine and the production details.
I could go on and on....but it well worth a visit for yourself.
