I was told large pizzas have 8 slices and family has 8 slices so… How big are your pizzas exactly?

On a recent weekend trip to Portland, we stopped for tea at this pizza place along the highway. It's right on the main road through town (Princes Freeway) but there's parking outside. The building looks as if it's been renovated and is clean and pleasant. But I'm afraid the food was not up to the standard which we've come to expect in take-away food.

We got Hawaiian and Margarita and were unpleasantly surprised at first by the price - over $16 just for a medium. Both were rather tasteless and neither of us enjoyed them. The main problem was the base - it was thick and doughy/soggy in places, hard in others and in fact tasted like it was a pre-made frozen one. The few toppings couldn't save it.

The staff in the shop were fine but either this was a bad day or they need to re-think their menu.

Thanks for another well written review Seaspray. Sounds like you have stumbled across another bad pizza shop. Given the ease (and minimal ingredients) it takes to make a respectable pizza dough, it continues to astound us as to why so many businesses use substandard products. High quality ingredients cannot save such a pizza, so what hope would lesser quality ones have?! Thanks for the heads-up. Clearly another take away worth avoiding! Regards, Reeces
