Even though the staff are quite friendly for some reason its not as good as it used to be..the location is easy to find.its ok but I wouldn't go out my way to just go there

Great service and very popular for kids in mentone after school. Their chips and potato cakes are really good, though their gravy is quite watery and we ended up just chucking it out! Place is very clean and in great location!

I really like their chips which are always crispy and not soggy and under-cooked like you find in some places.

I wouldn't say the staff are exceptional in any way, but they are not rude either.

There are also some tables and chairs if you want to eat inside.

Okay, it's a franchise fish n' chip shop. That means teenage employees and a formula to everything. That's not to say that the food is bad; the packs are a great way to get some good value and it isn't too oily. The thing is, there's no character about the place. No grumpy owner who's been there all day and certainly no love in the cooking. All this is probably what you'd expect from a franchise.

The few times i've been to Flakey Jakes, the food has been great - not as oily and gross as a lot of fish and chips are. Pity though that the staff are a bit rude and disinterested.
