My partner and I concur that this is one of the best Indian food places we have visited in the Northern suburbs. Also their service is impeccable and can not be faulted. They were most accomodating.

I went to Flavours Indian Restaurant with a large group of 12, the staff were really accommodating and all food was served quickly! I felt they had a great vegetarian range, would recommend spinach Bhaji for entree :)

The first time we went to Flavours it was just for take-away, the second time it was for one of their little lunch packs, so we didn't want to judge their food or services based on that.

Given how much we love Indian food, we're always willing to give a local another try... So we had dinner there last night and although the food was okay, we weren't overly impressed. I'd put these guys in the "just hitting average" category because with so many other great Indian restaurants in the area, it's hard to accept:

• The painfully shy service you get (not in a rude way, just in a "I'm so not confident to deal with people" way). I must confess though, our server was lovely, maybe she was new? She just didn't seem confident in her role....
• The 'cafeteria' like atmosphere; the place is pretty new & clean, and there are chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. But with bare chalk-white walls, no table decor, no paintings/decor to set any mood, and heaps of lights ... it feels like you're sitting in a food court of a very bright shopping mall.
• The "average" food. We ordered a "medium" Paneer Butter Masala, which okay but seemed spiced like a "hot" rather than a "medium". We've been to over 50 Indian Restaurants (and cook it from scratch at home) so it's not like we're not used to the flavouring & spices of Indian food. If you're not into spice-heat, make sure to request "mild"! We also had the Aloo Ghobi which was good (and seemed to be spiced mild, thank goodness!), the Masala Dosa, which was ehhh-okay (it seemed like the mixture had too much tumeric in it, it had that bitter flavour tumeric can add when there's a spoonful too much). And lastly...the sad garlic naans. To us, Indian bread is one of the most heavenly things you can eat, so when it's *not* done right - it's nearly sacrilege. As I said, because we cook our own Indian (from scratch, not from a packet folks), and have eaten as so many Indian restaurants -- it's very obvious when a naan bread has been frozen, thawed in a microwave, and tossed into a hot pan or oven. If you don't know, let me enlighten you: It's very chewy (meaning, it doesn't 'tear' into pieces, you have to "pull" it into pieces), lacks "puffiness' (there should be a stiff 'bubble' of air every now and then on top from the heat of cooking) and also lacks "dryness" (it's a bread, so you should be able to bite into cooked bread dough here and there, too). Basically a *non-fresh* Indian bread loses its 'bread-i-ness' quality. And that's exactly what we got at Flavours.

Despite all this, Flavours is OKAY....especially because their prices are pretty decent. However, Flavours could totally lift their game and be a real contender if they:

(1) Gain some confidence & interest when interacting with patrons
(2) Add some real atmosphere to the place - dim those lights!!!! Light the candles on your tables, go to Ikea and buy those cheap $1 vases and $1 fake flowers and pop them on your tables, hang some Indian-influenced paintings/materials on your walls.
(3) Explain to patrons -- "we like it hot here with the food, so best to go mild at the start if you've never been". Explain what a DOSA actually is to those who might not know.... and lastly, make your bread FRESH.... only the curries taste good a day or two later, not the bread.... ;)

I honestly hope they lift their game.... we'd love to give them another try one day.... :)

We went there on their second night of business, thinking they'd be keen to impress. Unfortunately we were not but I'm sure they'll improve with time. Food was a little oily, meat had fatty bits and then we had an upset belly overnight. Hope they improve because they have a lot of competition in the area.
Decor was nice and being new it was all very clean.
