Such a nice old style pub that is definitely worth visiting whilst in the area. We stayed for a few hours for a nice drinking session and chat with friends. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

This lovely old pub, dating from 1828, in the quirky Rocks area of Sydney, at the lower end of George Street is an absolute must for those seeking a little bit of Australia's past. It has not been plasticised, or made chic and trendy, but retains the authentic air of its true character. The narrow entrance bar is all you would want in a pub, noisy, busy, serving a fine selection of decent beers. Walk through to the First Fleet Bar, with walls lined with drawings of the 12 ships of that First fleet, and passenger lists of those ships to find a veritable who's who of Sydney society and history. Outside is usually posted a board with daily menu specials to add to the limited regular menu of bar meals. Upstairs there is a tiny restaurant serving meals, all of which are generous, freshly prepared and delicious. A short wine list is available for the non beer drinkers, all served up by a cheerful , friendly team of waiters. This is a perfect spot for those seeking a good value meal in a very touristy area, and a welcome break from sightseeng.
