The food here was amazing and exceeded my expectations. I stopped by for lunch and ordered a chicken wrap and hot chocolate. The flavours were fantastic and the portion sizes were reasonable. However, the prices are quite expensive and some of the staff looked as though they didn't want to be there. Other than those two things my experience was great.

Such a cool spot & just as great as their sister cafes. Probably the first groovy cafe I ventured to & it definitely set the standards! Modern twist on the traditional eggs & bacon!

They don't accept payment cards, it is often overcrowded with waits outside for tables, they do not prioritize tables based on length of wait for your waitress (whoever is closest wins) and the manager has a real attitude problem. The food is okay.

Approximate cost: $15

Very nice cafe. Good coffee and menu. Went here for breakfast and had the smashed avo on toast which was lively. The staff were very nice and it's very child friendly! Will defiantly go back

I don't like to complain about restaurants, but sometimes it has to be done.
Having been a few times now recently, I am quite certain that there is nothing coincidental about the bad experiences with this place.
Perhaps it is because the place is part of a large commercial enterprise (other branches being Porgie & Mr Jones, and Snow Pony) which is doing well, and it feels that it has earned its reputation. In short I am left with a feeling of dissatisfaction through my visits to this place.
The major let down areas were food portions/pricing and customer service.
On customer service, the staff here are just not thoughtful in their demeanor, responses and approach to situations. They are attentive to seating people, taking orders and finalizing your payment, but not much beyond that.
As for the food, the ideas are all there, kitchen staff capable of doing a reasonable job on the execution, and ingredients of a reasonable quality. However the serving sizes are deplorable. Considering that this is a cafe. Example: 'Jack + Jill' (essentially their version of the classic big breakfst) consisted of two slices of of toasted ciabatta both about the size of an i-phone, 2 poached eggs, a slice of ordinary bacon, 2 halves of tomato not much bigger than a golf ball, half an ice-cream scoop of avocado and one whole field mushroom - $19.90
Served on a very large white plate, it was a slightly comical sight with 50:50 food to centre white space. Because of the meagre serving of the accompanying components to the dish, everything was able to easily fit atop the 2 small slices of ciabatta.
These are two major issues for a business operating in the hospitality industry. Adding to this the fact that they only accept cash....
Friends of mine, would not treat their clients in this manner. Personally I will not be going again. There are much better places a stone's throw away offering much better balance between food quality/serving/price and infinitely better service levels.

Approximate cost: $20

Hi Rosep1, from what you have described this establishment could lift their game considerably. The classic (not so big) breakfast certainly sounds like it could be lifted to new heights, with minimal effort. The businesses â??cash onlyâ?? policy is also one that requires updating, as in this day and age, it will not earn them a great reputation. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces

This is a very cute, youthful cafe that mainly serves breakfast and brunch. I highly recommend trying their smashed acovado it is beyond delicious! Food, service and atmosphere are wonderful. The downside is that they only accept cash, it is EXTREMELY busy on a weekend (once it took them one and a half hours to seat a table of 5) and they do not make bookings. Otherwise one of the best places to have a yummy breakfast.

Approximate cost: $25

A gorgeous little cafe. A favorite hot spot of mine for brunch. Awesome atmosphere and fantastic food and coffee. The house smoked salmon on the sweet corn pikelet is my all time favourite. They also have nice cakes and muffins that go nicely with their coffee.

Approximate cost: $10-25

Great service, good food, the same...or very similar to Porgie and Mr Jones (Camberwell) and Snow Pony (Balwyn) I think owned by the same people.
Gets very busy on weekends, but the seating and atmosphere inside is really good!

Came here with high expectations - good reviews and it's the sister cafe of Porgie and Mr Jones in Auburn. Coffee was decent and food yummy for a standard price, but the service was very average. We sat outside, ordered coffees but then had to go inside to place our food order, after waiting for 20 min for the waitress to come, to no avail.

Wait on food was probably about 15 minutes, and it was yum (I had the banana bread and my friend had 'Jack and Jill'. However, then the girl on the till stuffed up our bill and ended up overcharging my friend, she may have been new, she didn't have much idea.

Bit disappointed, probably won't be back and will go to Porgie and Mr Jones instead.

Approximate cost: $14-19
