We own a property beside a GJ Gardner building site in Townsville. The poor absentee owner has waited almost 12 months for a start on the job. In all our dealings with the site forman and local director we have been fobbed off, lied to and delayed.

Their team have cut and smashed the dividing fence, damaged our front fence, damaged a council drain, left the wreckage of trees they cut all over our side yard, and despite being told not to come onto our property to access water and have smoko under our house.

Now that it is pouring rain the builders have finally started earthworks to prepare for concrete - I shudder to think about the quality of the slab.

If you are looking for a builder, look elsewhere. If you see a GJ Garndner sign go up next door, prepare for the worst.

Horrible experience with GJ Gardner Townsville. Time extension again and again which I was contractually required to agree to. I was told I wasn't allowed to refuse. I was given a time frame of 6 months, it has now been 18 months and counting with no end in sight. I am now in debt paying rent, rates and a mortgage waiting on completion of construction.

No compensation for delays, no return calls. Each time I try to reach [removed name], I can't. They tell me he will call me back, which he doesn't.

If they don't have the manpower to take on jobs they shouldn't do it. They shouldn't make promises they cannot keep. I would have gone with a different builder but now I'm stuck with them and in massive debt.

They couldn't care less, however. Patronising emails and talking on the phone with no intention of coming to a solution to solve the hardships my family and I are now in due to their unprofessionalism.

This company has all but bankrupted us and they couldn't care less. If I could give them -100 stars it wouldn't be enough.
