For a small cinema the staff are obviously nice however only one or two are ever on the counter. the prices are absolutely excellent! compared to other cinemas it is at least $5-10 cheaper. it has the biggest screen in cinema one and is overall best cinema for price, 3D and big screen. More people should go to watch. keep them in business!

Approximate cost: $7-9

I love this theatre, it has great atmosphere. I only usually get to go to the movies with my kids and I just find the Gala so much more relaxed than the bigger theatres. Prices are the best around. I have often been in their theatres and hardly anyone else is there, especially the morning sessions - no looking for enough seats for us all to sit together, no sitting so close to other people, etc. I can't understand why people go elsewhere, see the same movies and spend more money???

A family run business , one of the few left operating . Reminds me a bit of cinemas in the country . While the theatres may not be as flash as the larger chains , the prices are cheaper . There drink and popcorn combos are reasonably priced and they don't seem to have a problem with you bringing your own which is the only way some families can afford to do it . Movies change regularly and often have one session in the day showing films that other cinemas aren't. Really friendly staff ,who will often ask if you enjoyed the film on your way out . This family are real film buffs. The person taking your ticket is often the owner .i think it is really important to support family run cinemas like this , there a dying breed . Check paper for special offers and discounts before dark .

The gala cinemas are my favourite place to go in the Illawarra. They are the cheapest cinema around for a start. The Gala has an old fashioned feel to it with a small team working there meaning you get to know their faces- they are very friendly, welcoming staff. I think there are only 2 theatres so not as many movies show here as other places but the popular ones are usually on at good times.
The only issue I have found has been getting a park on busy days like in the school holidays but you can always park in the Westfield across the road and walk over. Drinks and popcorn are also reasonably priced and not outrageously large. I'd recommend the gala to everyone for a bit of old fashioned Customer service and an all round enjoyable experience.

Approximate cost: $7-$9

The Gala is a great little cinema in the Illawarra. The tickets are much better priced than the large cinema chains, you actually have money left to spend on candy bar treats. The girls at the Gala are very friendly and welcoming. The chairs are comfy and their 3D glasses are great.

The Gala is a fantastic asset to the Illawarra. Although it doesn't show as many independent and foreign films as I would like, it still shows some, unlike the big chains. The tickets are outstanding value and the choc-tops are only $3 each. They have a weekly email which tells you the program for the coming week. I hope the Gala never gets "done up" or loses its great value. I would rather support the Gala any day than go to the big cinema chains.

Great independent theatre. Often showing unique, foreign films. Very well priced compared to larger chain theatres. Good discounts for students. Comfortable seats, cinemas a nice size, rarely too crowded.

this is a great cinema, with a traditional feel to it. the prices are great value, and you can often pick up a discount shopper docket, making it even more affordable. they have a good range of movies on offer. as always, the snacks are over priced, but that is no different to any other cinema.

This cinema is affordable, friendly and has an old time charm that enhances your experience of going to the movies, with all the modern features. From the moment you walk into the lobby area you feel as though you are transported in time, and the staff are so friendly. I love this cinema, there is something magical about it
