Was ill and was taken in by ambulance to the Emergency Dept. I was attended to promptly, doctor was amazing. Ended up staying a week and the ward doctor was also thorough and took the time to explain things in detail. My only complaint is the food, it is dismal, the quality is badly lacking and the servings are 'microscopic.' I was looking forwards to meatballs in sauce only to find I has a plate full of sauce with half a meatball literally, a whole meatball is the equivalent of a walnut!!

In 2010 I was referred to Geelong Hospital for Total Hip Replacement for a badly overdue osteoarthritic hip. Mr Andrew Thomson was the Orthopaedics surgeon. He was fantastic. He was caring and compassionate and what is lacking in so many elitist surgeons. I was fortunate enough to have Mr Thomson perform my second hip replacement. He is the very best Orthopaedic Surgeon and I count my blessings that I had the best in a public system.

while understand how busy they are very busy public hospital i dont find there level of care overly great. last year i came down with a case of appendicitis and went to the emergency room 3 times. all 3 times i was sent home, it took me colapsing in my front yard before they looked at me properly and sent me off for emergency surgery.

i took my 1 month old son to emergency and they acted extremely fast and seen to him staright away, rushed thru all the relevant tests and took great care of him. he was then admigtted to the childrens ward for a week and the staff up there went above and beyond for him, they let me stay with him the entire time and made sure i was comfortable etc

having been an inpatient many times due to numerous surgeries i was amazed by the wonderful caring staff and the overall experience was not as bad as i thought it would be...the waiting lists can be quite lengthy but being public its to be expected, its quite spacious and the waiting rooms were not too overcrowded

Had my son hear and stuff were so lovely helping me with my choice to have a natural birth offering al the assistance they could was a tad upset when I asked for a cold face washer they said they were conserving linen and I had to use toilet paper but was lucky I had a face washer in my bag ( recommend you take your own) but It was noting really considering the support the staff offered, only one other negative I could say that when in birthing sweat as was my first child I was not shown were to make my own breakfast, so was left hungry and not checked on regularly so I discharged myself, in saying this it is a different department to birthing,
My sister was also admitted to children's ward not long ago and was treated great amazing, caring staff.

I had both my daughters here and the midwives are lovely. The food isnt very good though and I didnt like sharing a room. One midwife was quite mean. The hospital is always clean but there is not enough staff when you need them.
