I always enjoy visiting gracenotes. We usually only drop in for a snack and coffee in the afternoon. The staff always remember who we are, which makes us feel welcome in the cafe.

I highly recommend the muffins - much better than your regular mass-produced variety. I imagine that they are made on the premises. There is also a fabulous morsel called a forgotten cookie, which I think is meringue and chocolate. Depending on who is at the counter, there can be flexibility outside of the menu. However, one week my friend asked for cheese on toast and they wouldn't make it because it wasn't on the menu. The next week it was fine.

The decor is very warm and the cafe is spacious and comfy. I've never felt crammed in. There is a gorgeous open fire place and I look forward to Winter, so that I can enjoy that warmth.

The cafe is located opposite the local school, so you may not always get parking out front. There is plenty of parking around the corner and it is less than five minutes walk back. If you need a park out the front, it is better not to visit around the time that school goes in or comes out for the day.

Overall, it's a thumbs up. :)

Went in for breakfast on a sunday morning. It was relatively quiet. I had the eggs florentine and my wife had poached eggs with sausages. The eggs florentine was very nice. Generous amount of spinach with it. The sausages were also very good.

Coffee was probably the best of the 3 places I went to over the weekend. Recommended.

Sensational dining.
From the moment you arrive to the time that you leave, you are waited on hand & foot.
A menu of delectable tastes await even the most discerning diner.I will most certainly be back.

I have eaten at Gracenotes on a number of occasions over the last few years. Everytime I go to Daylesford I look forward to dining there. It's a lovely, laid back family run restaurant. The meals are AMAZING! From my experience they have always been of the highest quality. From the food you can see the care and passion that goes into the running of this restaurant. They seem to incorporate local ingredients as much as possible. I highly recommend the beef wellington! I have taken small and large groups to this restaurant and they have always gone above and beyond to make my dining experience pleasant. There's a cosy fire, great service and a nice atmosphere.

Approximate cost: $18-30

We didn't actually eat here, but we probably NEVER will & I'll tell you why...
Hubby & I just spent the weekend in Daylesford & part of our accommodation extras options included an antipasto platter from this cafe, which I thought "hey what a great idea, we can arrive at our villa, & after a long week, day, & long-ish drive, we could just settle in, open a nice red, & snack at our lesiure", so stupidly, I ordered one.
I have to say, for $45 it was just awful. The salad was limp & some of it, slimy (YUK!!!), with a wedge of Coles brand tasty, (maybe colby?) cheese sitting atop it. I think everything on it came from Coles Deli, which I could've got myself, at half the price & enough of it to actually feed the 2 of us.
Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, we discovered grilled zucchini placed on top of the Coles smoked salmon...too bad if you don't like smoked salmon.
In the end we ended up at Coles, supplementing what we could salvage from that disastrous & over-priced ANTI-pasto ANTI-platter, with some edible bits from the Deli.
So if this place can't get something as simple as a decent antipasto platter right, what hope have they got with the whole menu?

Approximate cost: $who cares?

Hi Sally64, really appreciated the detail that went into your review and especially your 'decent' TrustFactor also means a great deal. No offense to those submitting reviews with a 10% TrustFactor, but as WOMO themselves state, such reviews cannot be blindly trusted. Keep up the great reviews! Reeces

We arrived late into Daylesford recently and went here for a late dinner. The owner JASMINE looked after us, she had a great sense of humour and was fantastic. My husband said it was one of the best rib eyes he had ever had (and he is a harsh critic). I had a vegetarian dish, which was really fresh and yummy. We really enjoyed this resturant
